đź’™ November is National Family Caregivers Month

November is a time to show support and to honor our nation's vital caregivers. According to the National Council on Aging, tens of millions of Americans provide unpaid care each year, and their support is truly the backbone of our communities.

For people living with arthritis, caregivers are often the ones helping with movement, meal prep, medications, and simply being a steady source of encouragement. This month, we honor and thank every caregiver for the difference they make.

Learn more about National Family Caregivers Month from NCOA.

Families are often the primary source of support for older adults and people with disabilities. That's why every November, NCOA takes time to show support and to honor our nation's vital caregivers. Join us in highlighting the importance of "Caregiving Around the Clock".

Thank you and congratulations to Janaki Beharrysingh, senior UNC-Asheville Health and Wellness Promotion/Health Sciences student at UNC Asheville. Janaki presented her Community Engaged Scholar project yesterday at the UNC Asheville Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium.

Janaki helped to promote and create many materials for partners this year for our first statewide STEPtember Falls Prevention Awareness Walking Challenge. Many of your favorite resources were ones that she created! She helped to track the millions of steps taken and conducted an analysis of your feedback on STEPtember that we will share with the coalition soon.

Janaki will be starting her Masters in Gerontology program at UNC Wilmington in January.

She is the kind of student who gives me hope in future generations who will prioritize healthy aging.

THANK YOU, JANAKI and BEST WISHES!
