Your nervous system wasn’t built for this level of madness.
🙏And if I had to choose one plant ally when things feel off-kilter… it would be Skullcap.
Scutellaria lateriflora is a classic relaxing nervine — the kind that truly soothes a racy mind and over stimulation in the body.
The common name says it perfectly… she almost “puts a cap on the skull.”
Skullcap is gentle enough for daily use, yet powerful in her effect.
Part of her magic lies in supporting GABA receptor activity — helping the body shift toward parasympathetic tone… the state where calm, repair, and steadiness live.
This is my personal go-to when I need immediate regulation. I take a dropper full and within 15 minutes, a more calm state returns.
We process Skullcap fresh each season — and you’ll find her in 3 of our beloved blends:
🌿Gentle Spirit — for the sensitive one who feels all the things 💛
🌿Big Chill — Skullcap paired with Dual extracted Reishi Mushroom and full-spectrum CBD for deeper nervous system support.
🌿Sweet Dreams - Skullcap paired with hypnotic nervines like California Poppy and full spectrum CBD for deep restorative sleep
🥰One customer shared:
“The Big Chill works better than the Xan ax prescription I was given. When I feel nervous, I take a full dropper under my tongue — within 15 minutes, I’m good.”
Plants have always been here for us.
Sometimes we simply need to remember to reach for them. 🌿

Herbs to help you feel better—right now.
The world feels loud. A lot is shifting. Old systems are changing. In times like this, your ability to center, ground, and return to coherence isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.
Plants have lived through every storm. They know how to root deeply, stay steady, and keep reaching for the light. When we work with them, they gently remind our nervous system how to do the same.
These are some of our favorite herbal allies for calm, resilience, and heart-centered support. Each offers a quiet, steady kind of nourishment—the kind both body and spirit need.
What herbs are you reaching for lately?
If you haven’t taken our free “What’s Your Nervous System Craving?” quiz yet, it’s waiting for you. You’ll discover your nervous system type, herbs your body may be calling for, and simple daily practices to support your well-being.

Most see a wildflower, but we see a sacred soothing spirit in these petals. 🌼
California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is a hypnotic nervine—a gentle yet powerful ally for those seeking true rest, inner peace, and emotional resilience.
✨ Benefits of California Poppy:
🌿 Deep Sleep Support – A hypnotic nervine that gently eases insomnia and helps restore natural sleep cycles.
🌿 Emotional Healing – Especially beneficial for those walking the path of addiction recovery—bringing calm and clarity to turbulent emotions.
🌿 Bladder + Liver Support – Traditionally used to support healthy liver and bladder function.
🌿 Children’s Remedy – A go-to for little ones dealing with bedwetting (when used safely + appropriately).
🌿 Soothes Anxiety in Uncertainty – Brings peace when life feels unsteady or overwhelming.
💡 How to Use:
🌙 Add our Sweet Dreams Elixir (A bestseller 😉) to your nightly wind-down ritual.
🍵 Sip Lights Out Tea as a grounding ally for restful sleep and emotional calm.
🌼 Let this gentle wildflower remind you: it's okay to rest. Healing often begins there.

These plant allies work in harmony with the body, soothing an overactive stress response and supporting the parasympathetic "rest and digest" state. Over time, consistent use of nervines—such as milky oats, skullcap, chamomile, and lemon balm—can help the nervous system unlearn habitual patterns of fight, flight, or freeze. Instead of reacting with panic or shutdown, the body begins to respond with greater ease, clarity, and presence. This shift is subtle yet profound, offering long-term support for those navigating chronic stress, burnout, or emotional overload. 🧘♀️
YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM WILL ALWAYS CHOOSE FAMILIAR CHAOS OVER UNFAMILIAR PEACE UNTIL YOU LEARN TO HEAL AND CHOOSE DIFFERENTLY. 🌀
Lean into the power of the plants, fam! 🌿 Tap the link in bio to explore all the herbal goodness. Don’t miss The Big Chill — our calming blend of Full Spectrum H**p and potent nervines like the ones featured in this post. Crafted to support you through the wild, beautiful intensity of being human. 💚

There is so much unfolding in the world right now, and for many of us, within our personal lives as well.
Just over a month ago, the mountain area I call home with my 2 teenage boys was profoundly impacted by unexpected flooding and powerful winds from a hurricane that gave little warning.
These times are marked by immense collective shifts, and as many of us walk the plant path, we often find ourselves as empaths, deeply attuned to the energies around us and feeling these changes on a profound level.
December asks us to pause and listen deeply, to nourish our inner being and reflect on the year’s journey. It calls us to replenish our reserves, aligning with the quiet wisdom of winter, and to expand into the infinite possibilities that await.
These are some of my personal “slow down” nervous system hacks. It definitely takes a bit of discipline, especially for those of us A type personalities :)

"Community is where we find strength, resilience, and healing together."🙏 A call for your support 🙏
🌀Hurricane Helene has left deep scars in Asheville, sweeping away homes, businesses, and the markets that sustain Wise Earth Way, my small, women-owned business. Despite applying for SBA Distaster Relief and other Small Business Grants, I’ve been met with the heartbreaking news that funds have run dry.
🌿Since 2019, Wise Earth Way has been a labor of love—creating herbal remedies that honor the earth and nurture well-being. Now, I’m asking for your help. Rebuilding is not something I can do alone, but together, I believe we can breathe life back into this mission.
🌟I am also offering 30% off during our biggest holiday sale with code "smallbiz"
🙏Your kindness and support mean the world to me right now. Thank you for helping me keep this dream alive.

The Earth is our first Mother, she provides us with food, clothes, and shelter, along with the water, air, and medicine we need to be healthy. Many of us have forgotten how much we truly rely on the Earth to live. We tend to move through life “taking” from her and asking for more. But, what if we remembered that we are actually here to take care of the Earth? What if we remembered that we have the ability to heal ourselves through remembering our deep connection to the Earth?
My name is Stephanie and I am the Creatrix of Wise Earth Way. I am a Plant Extrovert, Farmer, Herbalist, Teacher, Wild Wombyn, Mother, Daughter, and Sacred Sister. I live on 138-acre Botanical Sanctuary in the ancient Appalachian Mountains outside of Asheville, NC. I thoroughly enjoy walking barefoot, eating wild weeds, and creating alchemy in my apothecary.
I am a trained herbalist in the traditions of Western, Chinese, Ayurvedic, and the Wise Women Way. I hold a degree in Clinical Herbalism from One World Healing Arts Institute (2009). In 2011, I completed a 200hr Hatha Yoga training to deepen my understanding and respect for breath, meditation, and movement. My formal education is in the field of Biology, where I earned my Associates in Science in 2016.
Besides all the Diplomas and Certificates, my greatest teachers have always been my own personal journey with health and the plants as my guides.
Over the past decade, I have traveled far and wide learning from Indigenous peoples of the Northern and Southern Americas through ceremonies and engaging in their traditional agricultural practices. I am also a current member of the Blue Ridge Healers Without Borders. This is a non-profit that provides donation based support for those in need, specifically the homeless community.
I also craft small batch artisan herbal remedies that are inspired by the elements. These remedies change with each season and can be purchased from my Etsy store here.
I have a story that many would call wild or untamed. I feel as though I have been through many initiations during my path. These initiations have always allowed me to soften and truly connect to what is most important, Connection and Self Love. Through my own health journey, I realized that when we care for the Earth with intention, the Earth will heal us. It is my life purpose to inspire and/or awaken this connection in others.
My husband, 2 growing boys, and I have been consciously care taking the land with great intention since 2005, as we grow or forage the majority of food that we eat.
