Sometimes it is sooooo difficult to remain present in certain situations. Our brain does not trust us, so it hijacks our behaviors and choses pre-selected outcomes instead of asking us what we want to be about. It chooses in favor of defense even when there is no fear or threat in reality. This is why mindfulness is so important. Our brain can function like a child having a tantrum and that causes us distress. It, the brain, floods our awareness with images of struggles and doom, then the body which perceives a threat squirts in chemicals to make the scene appear real and we must act on this immediately or all will collapse. So stay present to the threats the brain selects and decide to let them go in favor of curiosity and wonderment. Let’s see what happens if we don’t act out in anger or fear. Maybe happiness can happen, or at least peace. Linda
