Today is a new day here in WNC. I am an Asheville postpartum doula. The past 11 days the needs of our community have been changing daily. Many of us are still without basic needs (power and water) and cell or internet service. We are starting to enter the long term planning stage. I have been amazed at how resourceful and creative our community is. I have access to supplies and locals doulas and parents that want to help. My focus is to get support and supplies to all of our WNC families that are expecting or have babies at home, that are still in the area. We can come and offer in-person support and assistance, help with infant feeding of all varieties,
troubleshoot strategies for long-term bottle washing and toilet flushing and just come and help you at home so you can have a moment to cry or scream alone. There is no question or need too trivial. These supplies and services come free of charge. Even if you are “ok” and have “everything” you need, let us be there for you. I can also connect you with free perinatal mental health professionals. We are all in this together. All we need from you, or if you know someone in need, is your contact information (phone number, email, Facebook messenger, address if not service) and we will connect with you and get you what you need. We have access to so much to help. We are here for you, now and two months from now. It’s ok to not be ok.
