Following last Tuesday's solar eclipse, we are now officially nine days into Eclipse Season. At this point I have to ask, is it just me, or is there something about this eclipse cycle that is just a bit... trippy?

The eclipses are in Cancer and Capricorn this go-round, and they are troubling the lies that Capricorn has told us. You know what I am talking about. The social, familial, and societal pressure to BE and DO a certain thing in order to prove ourselves worthy in the eyes of the world is a Capricorn phenomena. Capricorn gives us the drive to create lives worth living, and the creation of a meaningful life is wonderful thing! The problem comes in when we internalize pressure to conform to socially acceptable ways of being in the world and completely loose touch with our authentic selves. This is the stuff that mid-life crises are made of.

The gift of these eclipses is that they are lifting the veil on the old stories about who we should be and asking us to embrace who we really are. They call for death to the structures in our lives that serve to alienate us from our true selves, so that we can live more authentic lives. May we have eyes to see what is real this eclipse season (7/2/19 - 7/16/19).

I've been missing you my friends! I have been off galavanting through the Sunshine State. Apparently there is no WiFi in the jungle swamps, I did manage to take this photo for you though. I'm back home now. Let's check in on the planets and get this astro blog rolling again.
I must say that the astrology of the moment gives me pause. It's complex! It's hard to pin down! What to say, what to SAY? We have a grand mutable cross at play this week. This makes for rapidly changing circumstances. Nothing is certain right now except that everything is changing.

Mutable signs are about endings. Major phases of our lives are ending right now. Of course, endings bring beginnings, but what is beginning is not yet clear. This is a time of such rapid shift that it is impossible to know exactly where anything is going to land. Now is not a time for certainty. Now is the time to end that which is coming to a close well, and to get clear about what you want in the next phase of your life. This is the time to create a crystal clear vision, and to do the work that is needed in order to bring that vision into manifestation. Manifestation itself is a long way off; we are at the beginning of the beginning right now. What do you need to do to herald in the next phase of your life and begin it well? Do that. Do that now.

There is not a lot that is new in the astrology this week. The energy is still defined by the Mars / Saturn cycle (which has to do with preparation for a new phase of life), the four retrograde planets (which are about doing psychological clean-up work, so that you can launch into this new phase unencumbered by old toxic psychological patterns), and the grand trine earth (which is about rooting down into healthy routines in order to facilitate transformation). For a complete rundown on these aspects see my post from last week with the collage of the dancing ladies taking a joy ride through the galaxy.
This holding pattern that we are in is going to break up over the weekend with the full moon in Sagittarius, the sun moving into Gemini, and Mercury stationing direct. That's right friends: Mercury stations direct over the weekend. We are in the last few days of Retrograde Season 2016. Use these next few days to take full advantage of the retrograde energy while it is still in effect.
Having four planets retrograde is a tremendous opportunity for transformation. Get quiet. Go inside yourself. Question everything that you assume to be true about yourself, your life, your limits, your past, and your future. Rise above the clouds these next few days and see everything from the higher vantage point that the retrogrades offer. Call yourself on your own bu****it. Free your mind and spirit from the tyranny of your self-limiting behaviors and beliefs. Now is the time to rewrite the script. There are only three more full days left in this retrograde season. Milk it for everything it's worth.

It's retrograde season. Resurrect yourself.

Jupiter stationed direct on Tuesday, but with Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Pluto all still retrograde, Retrograde Season 2016 is still very much in effect. Retrogrades are marked by emotional intensity, but this week we also have the stabilizing influence of a grand trine earth in the mix. Let's interpret the meaning of this celestial dance, shall we?

First of all, the retrogrades and grand trine are happening within the larger context of the Mars / Saturn cycle that is playing out in Sagittarius. Mars in Sagittarius is dreaming a new dream, and it has us wanting to jump off into an exciting new phase of life. But Saturn is also there is Sagittarius putting the brakes on, saying we aren't ready yet. We are being held in a period of preparation until Mars gets free of Saturn in August.

All of these retrogrades happening within the context of this period of preparation. Retrogrades pull us way back into the recesses of our psyches to reconsider our truth, our perspective, our motivations, our actions, and our behavior. It is possible to awaken into higher consciousness right now and to leave old dysfunctional patterns behind for good. The psychological clean up job that the retrogrades bring is ultimately in service to manifesting the larger dream associated with the Mars / Saturn cycle.

That brings us to this week's grand trine earth... This aspect is extremely potent for manifesting our dreams, but it comes with a warning: this is not a time to be slacking off! Trines can make us lazy, because the old ineffective patterns feel so harmonious under trines! They are the path of least resistance! You have to work a trine to get the benefit, and this trine is telling us to keep showing up single day to work the process. Now is the time to bring your habits and daily routines into alignment with the dream that you desire to manifest.

And there is a even a bonus with this grand trine! The grand trine offers solace for those of you who are feeling emotional turmoil with all of the retrograde activity: diet, exercise, meditation, sleep, and caring for your ever-so-earthly financial resources are the keys to thriving during Retrograde Season.

It is such a sweet new moon tonight... We are a week into retrograde season, and there is some major karma clearing going on down here on planet earth. This has been a week of awakenings, and so many tears have been shed in the process.

Tonight the moon, our heavenly mother, has heard us. She is new in the sign of Ta**us, telling us to earth down. Now is the time to come back down to earth. If you have truly awakened, plant the seed of your intention tonight. Tend these seeds and they will bring a harvest... Just try it and see what happens.

Mercury stationed retrograde on Friday, bringing the total number of retrograde planets in the sky right now to five. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto are all also retrograde. There haven't been so many planets simultaneously retrograde in over 10 years. Ten years! Needless to say, this is a pretty big astro-deal.
Anytime a planet is retrograde, the action associated with that planet is turned inward. Retrogrades signify periods of internal emotional and psychological process. Subjective awareness is heightened at the moment, making this a really good time to get crystal clear about what you want in your life, and to release any old habits that are holding you back. If your old emotional wounds are coming up to the surface right now, know that you are not alone. This stuff is coming up so that you can release it. Feel it pain and set yourself free. If you are feeling this one intensely, remember your self care.
We have just over a week left with retrograde x 5. Jupiter stations direct on the 9th, followed by Mercury on the 23rd.

The moon is full in Scorpio today my friends, bringing clarity to the parts of ourselves that must die so that we can be reborn on a higher plane of consciousness. Such a heavy opening line, right? I know. That's the point. Scorpio doesn't play around.

With Saturn square the nodes, this is a time of reckoning with who we have been and who we will become. We have a choice to make around our identities. Are you the one that you born to be? We are all standing at a crossroads right now, choosing which path we will take. The Scorpion loves a sacrifice, and the sacrifice that the Scorpion is calling for today is made clear by the light of the full moon. You know what you need to do.

Jupiter, Mercury, and Pluto have been forming a grand trine earth for the last week. Although this trine has already peaked it is still there, telling us to root down into the earth to support the big personal changes that this time demands. Maintaining a healthy rhythm in your daily life will support deep psychological transformation over the next several months, and you will get the results when Mars passes Saturn and launches into a whole new phase in August.

Last week I wrote about how the atmospheric energy of the moment is defined by the one step forward, two steps back rhythm Saturn and Mars facing off in Sagittarius. Mars wants action and Saturn brings delays. With both of these planets in Sagittarius there is a major theme at play for the next few months of roadblocks (Saturn) popping up as we try to launch (Mars) into a new phase (Sagittarius). As I said last week, this theme will be with us until Mars passes Saturn on August 23rd. If you are feeling a lot of frustration due to delays right now, know that this period is about paying attention to details now that will bring success later. This is a time to slow down and work the process.

Both Mars and Pluto stationed retrograde in the last few days, adding a new dimension to the overall energy of the moment. Retrograde periods mark times of internal process. During this Mars retrograde, you may feel the pace of life slowing down as the planet of outward action turns internal. This is a time to reflect how we go about achieving our desires. Has your past action been effective? Mars is going to go all the way back to 23 degrees of Scorpio before it stations direct on June 29th. The implication here is that a psychological clean up job is necessary before effective forward action can be taken.

The Pluto retrograde further emphasizes what Mars heading back into Scorpio is telling us. Pluto retrograde periods sharpen our perception and help us dive down into the recesses of the subconscious where unconscious psychological blocks are holding us back. Pluto is getting in on this dance between Saturn and Mars, and it is telling us that our psyches are going to have to be upgraded before we can pass go. Always with Pluto, old patterns have to die so that that something new of being can be born. From now until Pluto stations direct on September 26th, consider what needs to me eliminated from your life in order for your action in the world to be powerful and effective.

Is anyone else out there feeling kind of stuck right about now? Like you are ready to launch into the new exciting plan that you have for yourself, but a million tedious little things keep popping up that are preventing you from moving into the next phase? There is a cosmic theme at play right now that accounts for the jerky stop / go rhythm that many of us have been feeling lately. The culprits are Saturn and Mars. They have been in tension with each other since Mars moved into Sagittarius on March 5th. Saturn took up residence in Sagittarius back in the fall, and with these two opposing planets facing off in the same sign it makes for quite a showdown.

Mars is all action and adventure. In fiery Sagittarius it sees the big picture, it makes a new plan, it wants jump off into the next thing, and it is overflowing with energy and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. But hold the phone: Saturn is there in Sagittarius too, saying no, not yet, to all of Mars' big ideas. While it may seem that Saturn is total buzz kill, really Saturn is doing the Mars in all of us a big favor. This celestial dance is all about preparation.

If it feels like you are hitting roadblock after roadblock right now, that might just be Saturn telling you aren't ready yet. Work with the limitation. Tie up the loose ends. Attend to the details. Now is the time build a strong Saturnian foundation so that when Mars passes over Saturn on August 23rd and gets free from Saturn's constraining influence you will be ready to hit the ground running.

Part V of V: Charts of Followers

Instagram, I have missed you. My little family has been sick with the flu, and I am just starting to come back to life.
This is the fifth and final post in a series of five posts that I am doing on the charts of some of my followers. Today's chart is that of a follower born 7/23/83 in Norman, Oklahoma at 11:36 pm.
With the south node in Sagittarius we are looking at a soul that has been deeply influenced by religion in the karmic past. Neptune conjunct the south node is a signature of a religious authority figure. Note that the south node is in the 9th house of long distance journeys. Throughout history, of course, religion motivated people to travel to distant lands in order to conquer and convert the local population. Jupiter, the ruler of the south node, is in the 8th house of intimate relationships, indicating that our native married a foreigner, and / or became a foreigner by marrying abroad and settling in a foreign land. There are a lot of clues to the karmic story with this one... How might this karma carry over into the current incarnation? The dark side of Sagittarius occurs when someone's personal truth becomes "THE TRUTH." Rigid thinking is the tendency with this south node, served up with a strong dose of dogma. There is a need to be right, a need to be certain, and a need to covert others to the native's line of thinking.

With the north node in Gemini in the 3rd house, our native has a soul intention to evolve beyond the limits of her own thinking. Endless engagement with people who hold very different perspectives on life than her own is the key to unlocking this north node. With the south node in Sagittarius, life gets reduced to a mental abstraction and there is a deadening identification with one's own belief system. This north node calls our native to tear down the walls of her own dogma, and get back into a more direct experience of life. Our native will experience great joy in opening up to her own curiosity, and she will find her own special zen in replacing all of her internal certainty with question marks.
