Following last Tuesday's solar eclipse, we are now officially nine days into Eclipse Season. At this point I have to ask, is it just me, or is there something about this eclipse cycle that is just a bit... trippy?

The eclipses are in Cancer and Capricorn this go-round, and they are troubling the lies that Capricorn has told us. You know what I am talking about. The social, familial, and societal pressure to BE and DO a certain thing in order to prove ourselves worthy in the eyes of the world is a Capricorn phenomena. Capricorn gives us the drive to create lives worth living, and the creation of a meaningful life is wonderful thing! The problem comes in when we internalize pressure to conform to socially acceptable ways of being in the world and completely loose touch with our authentic selves. This is the stuff that mid-life crises are made of.

The gift of these eclipses is that they are lifting the veil on the old stories about who we should be and asking us to embrace who we really are. They call for death to the structures in our lives that serve to alienate us from our true selves, so that we can live more authentic lives. May we have eyes to see what is real this eclipse season (7/2/19 - 7/16/19).

I've been missing you my friends! I have been off galavanting through the Sunshine State. Apparently there is no WiFi in the jungle swamps, I did manage to take this photo for you though. I'm back home now. Let's check in on the planets and get this astro blog rolling again.
I must say that the astrology of the moment gives me pause. It's complex! It's hard to pin down! What to say, what to SAY? We have a grand mutable cross at play this week. This makes for rapidly changing circumstances. Nothing is certain right now except that everything is changing.

Mutable signs are about endings. Major phases of our lives are ending right now. Of course, endings bring beginnings, but what is beginning is not yet clear. This is a time of such rapid shift that it is impossible to know exactly where anything is going to land. Now is not a time for certainty. Now is the time to end that which is coming to a close well, and to get clear about what you want in the next phase of your life. This is the time to create a crystal clear vision, and to do the work that is needed in order to bring that vision into manifestation. Manifestation itself is a long way off; we are at the beginning of the beginning right now. What do you need to do to herald in the next phase of your life and begin it well? Do that. Do that now.

There is not a lot that is new in the astrology this week. The energy is still defined by the Mars / Saturn cycle (which has to do with preparation for a new phase of life), the four retrograde planets (which are about doing psychological clean-up work, so that you can launch into this new phase unencumbered by old toxic psychological patterns), and the grand trine earth (which is about rooting down into healthy routines in order to facilitate transformation). For a complete rundown on these aspects see my post from last week with the collage of the dancing ladies taking a joy ride through the galaxy.
This holding pattern that we are in is going to break up over the weekend with the full moon in Sagittarius, the sun moving into Gemini, and Mercury stationing direct. That's right friends: Mercury stations direct over the weekend. We are in the last few days of Retrograde Season 2016. Use these next few days to take full advantage of the retrograde energy while it is still in effect.
Having four planets retrograde is a tremendous opportunity for transformation. Get quiet. Go inside yourself. Question everything that you assume to be true about yourself, your life, your limits, your past, and your future. Rise above the clouds these next few days and see everything from the higher vantage point that the retrogrades offer. Call yourself on your own bu****it. Free your mind and spirit from the tyranny of your self-limiting behaviors and beliefs. Now is the time to rewrite the script. There are only three more full days left in this retrograde season. Milk it for everything it's worth.

It's retrograde season. Resurrect yourself.

Jupiter stationed direct on Tuesday, but with Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Pluto all still retrograde, Retrograde Season 2016 is still very much in effect. Retrogrades are marked by emotional intensity, but this week we also have the stabilizing influence of a grand trine earth in the mix. Let's interpret the meaning of this celestial dance, shall we?

First of all, the retrogrades and grand trine are happening within the larger context of the Mars / Saturn cycle that is playing out in Sagittarius. Mars in Sagittarius is dreaming a new dream, and it has us wanting to jump off into an exciting new phase of life. But Saturn is also there is Sagittarius putting the brakes on, saying we aren't ready yet. We are being held in a period of preparation until Mars gets free of Saturn in August.

All of these retrogrades happening within the context of this period of preparation. Retrogrades pull us way back into the recesses of our psyches to reconsider our truth, our perspective, our motivations, our actions, and our behavior. It is possible to awaken into higher consciousness right now and to leave old dysfunctional patterns behind for good. The psychological clean up job that the retrogrades bring is ultimately in service to manifesting the larger dream associated with the Mars / Saturn cycle.

That brings us to this week's grand trine earth... This aspect is extremely potent for manifesting our dreams, but it comes with a warning: this is not a time to be slacking off! Trines can make us lazy, because the old ineffective patterns feel so harmonious under trines! They are the path of least resistance! You have to work a trine to get the benefit, and this trine is telling us to keep showing up single day to work the process. Now is the time to bring your habits and daily routines into alignment with the dream that you desire to manifest.

And there is a even a bonus with this grand trine! The grand trine offers solace for those of you who are feeling emotional turmoil with all of the retrograde activity: diet, exercise, meditation, sleep, and caring for your ever-so-earthly financial resources are the keys to thriving during Retrograde Season.
