In this post we attempt to derive the average serving size of macro doses in the Oregon Psilocybin Data Dashboard. The State’s average serving per session is listed at 24.44mg. But that includes micro doses which skew the data.

Using the State’s numbers, we estimate that the average serving size for people is 30.8mg. We don’t really do many micro doses at Satya, and we find this estimate to be slightly higher than what we serve on average at Satya.

The ‘research’ level dose is 25mg. It makes sense that the estimated number is higher in Oregon than what is used in research. We serve mushrooms and researchers use synthetic psilocybin. Digestion would likely cause a lower efficacy dose per dose vs. synthetic. Many clients coming to Oregon take SSRI’s and anti-psychotics. This requires higher dosing. Research clients are NOT taking these SSRI’s and anti-psychotics. So a higher dose level in Oregon makes sense.
