We recently donated an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to thedriveway.hobart, a basketball training center. Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in young athletes, and it all too often happens on the basketball court.
You may have heard about of high-profile athletes collapsing on the court. Some like Hank Gathers back in the 90’s (who had the same disease as Dr. Schmidt) were sadly not so lucky. But more recently, LeBron James’ son Bronny James had his life saved thanks to the immediate use of an AED. These devices can often make the difference between life and death.
By placing an AED right at The Driveway, we hope to give athletes, coaches, and families peace of mind knowing that quick action and the right tools can save lives.
