Shoveling snow looks harmless… until your lower back reminds you it’s not.
Snow is heavy. Repetitive bending, twisting, and lifting especially when it’s wet puts major strain on your lower back and core, increasing the risk of muscle spasms, disc strain, and next-day pain.
Back-saving tips while shoveling:
• Bend at the hips and knees, not the waist
• Keep the shovel load small
• Avoid twisting, step to turn instead
• Take breaks and listen to your body
