āMental Toughnessā is said to be oneās capacity to handle stressors, challenges, & curve balls while maintaining our best self and abilities. Furthermore, this trait of mental toughness is said to show up when it is time to rebound and respond after these tough circumstances.
We see mental toughness showing up all around us through emotional resiliency, grit, patience, motivation, positivity, well managed stress, self awareness, risks, focus, & confidence. How does it show up for you? Can you pinpoint people or scenarios where grit and these characteristics showed up?
For me, Iāve been super aware and intrigued by the concept of not just surviving, but THRIVING through life and itās challenges. I find myself asking, āwhat am I to learn from this?ā āHow can I get better?ā āWhere do I need to adjust?ā I keep going after the activity that scares me or makes me uncomfortable. Then I assess (with my coach) and get after it again.
Fortunately, mental toughness is like a muscle and can be strengthened. The more we strengthen it, the more we gain in confidence, connection, increased performance, & resiliency. I sometimes think people want this, but they really donāt know how. I know I didnāt.
My top resource for developing mental toughness is through āperformance coachingā or āmindset coachingā. Iāve been in a community of the BEST for six years now. Their history of winning grows every single day, too. Iām happy to share them with you. I have shifted from survival and a level 2 of mental toughness to thriving in my life and working at a level 9.
What about you? Howās your mental toughness? Are you where you want to be? Are you surviving or thriving?
