According to the Institute of Medicine of the NIH:

Children from 1-3 need 19 grams. Children from 4-8 need 25 grams a day.

Females from 9-18 years old need 26 grams.

Males from 9-13 years old need 31 grams. Males from 14-18 need 38 grams a day.

Eating a variety of Whole Foods allows us to meet this Adequate Intake recommendation!
