WAIT? CHANCE OF C-SECTION REDUCED BY 20%?!?

A recent meta-analysis (that means a big study that looks at lots of other studies) found something interesting: when Pitocin was stopped during the active phase of labor (that’s when your body is really in the zone, working hard, usually around 6cm and beyond), the chance of needing a cesarean went down by 20%.

Read that again: 20% lower risk of C-section.

Uterine tachysystole (that’s when contractions are coming too fast and not giving the baby time to recover) also dropped. So did the rate of those scary, non-reassuring heart rate patterns we all want to avoid.

If you’re my client, you already know this: we don’t do routine for routine’s sake. Every step we take in your care should be thoughtful, evidence-informed, and based on what actually protects your long-term well-being and not just what moves things along for the hospital.

We also believe in giving your body space to work. So yes we’ll talk about this research. And we’ll bring it into the room with us, if and when Pitocin is part of your birth plan.

You just had a baby and you’re doing everything from feeding, cleaning, figuring out your body, trying to keep it together when everything feels new and heavy.

And the truth is, you shouldn’t be doing all of this alone.

That’s where I come in. I step in where everyone else disappears: when the texts stop, the visitors leave, and the pressure to “bounce back” creeps in.

I’m there to help you rest, recover, and feel human again.

You’re not supposed to carry all this by yourself. And asking for help doesn’t make you weak. It makes you wise.

If you feel alone, message me. I’ve got you.

June is PTSD Awareness Month which is important to me because I have PTSD. Most think that PTSD is only for those who have been to war or some type of severe violent act. My PTSD stems from the traumatic experiences I had during two of my pregnancies. I can remember getting anxiety and flashbacks just by smelling a scent that I remembered from the doctor's office. You or someone you might know may be suffering from PTSD. Even though it can be isolating, help is available. Feel free to contact us to schedule some time to talk. We have resources available and provide a space free of judgements.

Flying while breastfeeding or pumping can be stressful, unpredictable, and honestly, most moms are left to figure it out alone.

This blog breaks down what to expect at TSA, how to store and carry your milk, where to nurse or pump in an airport, and how to advocate for yourself with the facts.

If you’ve got a flight coming up — or you're supporting a client who does — this is the prep no one gave you.

When you’re used to being visible—to performing, producing, or holding everything together in public—privacy can feel like a luxury. But in birth, loss, or postpartum, privacy is not a bonus. It’s a requirement.

At Georgia Women’s Health Consultants, we don’t just promise confidentiality. We protect it—relentlessly. Because for the women and families we serve, privacy isn’t just about keeping secrets. It’s about creating space to heal, reset, and choose your next move without noise or pressure.

Here’s why that matters—and how it actually serves you.

There’s something about being pregnant—or parenting that makes people lose their filter. Suddenly, everyone feels entitled to give you their advice.

It seems like everyone has something to say:
“You’re still drinking coffee?”
“You’re not going to try for a VBAC?”
“You just need to let the baby cry it out.”

Here’s the thing: Just because someone offers advice doesn’t mean you have to take it. And just because they’re older, louder, or mean well doesn’t mean they get a pass.

Pregnancy and postpartum bring enough stress—unsolicited advice doesn’t help. Here’s how to shut it down and protect your peace.

Every time I say to myself, "I do not want to lead a group today. It's too emotionally draining." God reminds me of why I am needed. There are far too many women on this Earth suffering in silence, holding in their bodies all of the love they have for their children no longer here. Some are angry, anxious, fearful, and uncertain with no place to sit with their grief.

To every woman who has lost a child, whether during pregnancy, labor or after bringing them earthside, YOU ARE NOT ON THIS JOURNEY ALONE! I am available at any time to hold space for you. I will not judge you. I promise I can handle your grief.

For those of you who know someone who has lost a child do not tell them to get over it. Do not tell them, "At least you can get pregnant" or "Just get pregnant again" or "Be strong, you have other kids." If they come to you with their grief, there is a level of trust they have with you. DO NOT FAIL THEM by being selfish with no emotional intelligence.

When I saw this picture, every emotion came rushing back. The joy of their kicks and somersaults in my womb to the anguish of leaving the hospital without them.

Then my body remembered the wailing from my soul on a Sunday. I didn’t have anything left. BUT the GOD of the Bible held me and understood every word that could not be spoken. Every tear that couldn’t fall because I cried them all. I miss them every day.

My comfort is knowing that when their eyes opened in heaven, they were met with the beautiful embrace of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
