Many bemoan the idea of barefoot, unclothed children. I’ve always let mine run free and feral anytime we are able. I like to consciously and curiously examine the innate behaviors of my kids, and without question, they seem to be led to disrobe whenever possible. In fact, I think most young kids fall into this category until they learn to feel [unwarranted] shame about their exposed skin from those around them and the greater culture. Once you see things through a chronobiology, biophysics and a quantum biology lens it all makes perfect sense. They are grounding and intuitively exposing as much of their skin as possible for light absorption, charging their battery if you will.☀️

“The first circadian mismatch in human history occurred when man started to wear clothing…the unintended consequence we’ve always overlooked is clothing blocks light from hitting our skin…our skin is literally a solar panel that collects light in order to make DC electricity. It’s DC electricity from this source, and others, that power most cellular activities that run and repair the human body.” - The Mitochondriac Manifesto by R. D. Lee

Study your children, for when left to their own devices, they will show you the ideal ways of being in the world. The sun is medicine. The sun is your friend. Perhaps we should learn from our children and implement their wisdom into daily rhythms accordingly. Be well!

Jackson Tyler Duncan found the most beautiful Lion’s Mane mushie on his walk with the pup this morning and we decided to harvest it for culinary/medicinal use. He’s been looking for Lion’s Mane since we first moved in (after seeing one past it’s prime about 2yrs ago which is pictured in this thread) and we discussed how we yearned to find one JUST yesterday. Alas, Pachamama provides. We both felt emotional touching and seeing it. It’s incredibly beautiful! We also found some lovely Turkey Tail mushies by our greenhouse, too. ❤️ 🍄 🤍

A little birdseye view of our raised bed garden today! We’ve been working tirelessly on the recent weekends to break down the old beds, prep the space, put together one million pieces, fill our beds using the Hügelkultur method, lay rocks/pavers and put up trellises. 😅 We are exhausted, aching horribly and it feels like it’ll never be finished. If finally feels like it’s taking shape though! Juggling a toddler while doing all of this adds a whole, extra special layer as well (pray for us 😜). Peep the chickens still digging for bugs and dust bathing in the beds today. 😆

Grateful for these gifts and more. Self-sustainability takes dedicated work and devotion to big lifestyle changes. We are only in the very beginning stages of this process and we have a lot to learn, but the little wins along the way feel so good. It seems small, but I can’t remember the last time we bought eggs. We’ve also not had to buy any zucchini, squash, basil, cucumbers or radish since our garden started blossoming. That’s a start!

Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis or salvia rosmarinus) has many wonderful health benefits. Rosemary is mainly known as a culinary herb in the mint family that brings lovely aromas and vivacious flavors to any dish. However, it also has potent medicinal qualities.
☀️
Rosemary is a known tonic for the nervous system, digestive system and circulatory system. It helps to improve memory, increase
concentration, slow brain-aging, is an antioxidant (has been shown in studies to slow cancer cell growth and improve recovery after stroke!), reduces inflammation and supports the immune system.

It can be used in many forms, is widely available and easy to grow. It can be taken in food form, tea form, tincture form and can also be used topically in various ways.
🌿
Be on the lookout soon for rosemary tincture and other lovely products utilizing this wondrous herb!
