I visited a museum today for a . Of course seeing the jewelry in the gift shop is always a focus of mine.
Art is always so inspiring. Hopefully one day l’ll do a piece inspired by her later work. I really enjoyed seeing Kusama’s art from the 1950s. What also inspired me was seeing how her work evolved and became more brightly colored and contemporary.

JUST ART Wasilly 👨🏿‍🎨 is just what is. A design for art appreciation.
I incorporated contrasting colors and patterns. Do you see my dry hands? That’s because when weaving with beads, I need to keep them free of oils and dirt.
Art makes me happy and stirs inspiration. Is it the same for you?

The AMARI earrings have been selling so well, I’ve decided to add another color variant. This image doesn’t show the colors so well but there is a subtle vibrance in these espresso hues mixed with shiny magenta, pale blue and olive beads.

I love ❤️ the light weight of them too!

PYRITE is one of the semi-precious stones I used in my designs early in my jewelry making journey. For two years I’ve had difficulty sourcing hematite causing a shift leading my designs to potentially use other materials.

This design is a prototype of using pyrite as a focus instead of hematite. For me, the stone colors compliment very well with a range of hues.

Normally I do not consider the properties of gemstones. However, based on the times we are living in, I find the meaning of pyrite to be reassuring. This stone is a symbol of protection, strength, courage, prosperity and it brings positive energy.

Do you wear jewelry that embodies powerful meaning?

DANDYISM was the theme of the 2025 MET gala. During the transatlantic slave trade, African Americans, especially men, wore DANDYISM as an act of defiance. As a child growing up in south Georgia, this style is what inspired me to start my jewelry company over 10 years ago. My focus was to pay homage to the clothes fondly remembered from my parent’s extensive collection of fashion mainly worn on Sundays during church.

Pictured is my 92 year young father… my original dandy. 💜 He and his siblings worked as sharecroppers, the 1900s extension of slavery. They were cotton pickers but of course the financial share of the cropping made the slave masters wealthy. Today my dad still dress like a dandy. ❣️ Today I’m celebrating black culture and a look into the inspiration behind .

Kwame Brathwaite: The 1970s ⚫️ is an exhibition that my jewelry will be supporting for purchase from April - October 2025 . Brathwaite was an American photojournalist known for popularizing the phrase “Black is Beautiful” in the 70s. His archive of photography work will be shown in the exhibition and I’m honored to be part of this and having a voice through my designs.

Jewelry: Shaggy earrings- inspired by my memories of play time as a child with my cousins on my parent’s shagged carpet.

Model and photo: (my niece) Alex Nic Greaux
