Self-Care: A Transparent Moment 💛

I’ve been struggling with an inflamed knee off and on for a while. I do have arthritic tissue in my knee, so that part is real. But recently, I learned something that made me pay closer attention.

One day, I was hobbling to the elevator on my way to the movies because my knee was acting up. A nurse was on the elevator with me, and when I thanked her for holding it, she shared that she had dealt with knee issues too—especially related to menopause. Then she said something simple:

“Get off processed sugar.”

I had heard before that processed sugar can work against the body, but I hadn’t fully connected it to what I was feeling in my knee.

For me, processed sugar looked like caramel lattes or frappés, banana nut loaf from Starbucks, and even smoothies that seem healthy but still contain added sugar.

So last Wednesday, I decided to stop.

What really hit me is that I was taking turmeric supplements, collagen, and hyaluronic acid to help with inflammation—but as long as I kept consuming processed sugar, I was defeating the purpose of the support I was trying to give my body.

Today makes 4 days without processed sugar, and I can honestly say my knee is feeling better and better. The inflammation is going down, and I’m feeling encouraged.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about listening to your body and paying attention to what may be working against your healing.

💛 Self-Care Reminder:
Sometimes the thing we keep reaching for may be the very thing getting in the way of us feeling better.

Travel Self-Care: Don’t Let Travel Struggles Steal Your Joy ✈️✨

Let’s be real—jet lag, swelling, dehydration, bloating, fatigue, and bathroom issues don’t just interrupt some trips, they stop some people from taking them at all.

That’s why travel self-care matters. A little preparation can help you feel better, move better, and enjoy your trip with less stress and more ease.

Quick travel self-care tips:
• Hydrate before, during, and after travel
• Pack your wellness essentials, snacks, and support items
• Stretch, walk, and keep your body moving during travel
• Give yourself time to adjust to a new time zone
• Build in rest so your body can recover

You deserve a trip you can actually enjoy. Prepare well, care for your body, and make the memories. 🌴💆🏽‍♀️

Self-Care Saturday: Pollen Is Tiny… but It Can Wreck Your Whole Day 💛

If you live where pollen counts run high, that yellow dust is not just “outside stuff” on your car. Pollen is a fine powder made by plants as part of reproduction, and when you breathe it in, your immune system can treat it like a threat if you’re allergic. That can trigger sneezing, congestion, a runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and for some people, even asthma flare-ups.

The hidden part? High-pollen days can wear you down. Allergies can leave you foggy, tired, irritable, and not feeling like yourself because your body is working overtime to react. That means protecting yourself is self-care, not overreacting. This is especially important if pollen is one of your asthma triggers.

A few simple ways to protect yourself on high-pollen days:
• check the pollen count before spending long periods outside
• keep windows closed at home and in the car during high-pollen periods
• shower, wash your hair, and change clothes after being outdoors
• wear glasses or sunglasses outside to help keep pollen out of your eyes
• use air conditioning or filtration instead of bringing outdoor air in when pollen is high

💛 Self-care reminder:
When pollen is high, protecting your peace may look like protecting your body first.

Self-Care Saturday: When Your Plate Is So Full You Can’t Even Think Straight 💛

Some people aren’t lazy.
They’re overloaded.

Their plate is full with work.
Full with caregiving.
Full with marriage.
Full with parenting.
Full with stress.
Full with everybody else’s needs.

And when your plate stays that full for too long, your mind gets tired, your body gets tense, and your joy starts to disappear.

If that’s you, this is your reminder:

You do not have to earn rest by burning out first.

Sometimes self-care in a heavy season looks like:
• saying no without overexplaining
• taking one thing off your list instead of adding more
• asking for help instead of carrying it all alone
• sitting in silence for a few minutes before answering the next request
• choosing peace over pressure

You are allowed to admit that your plate is full.
You are allowed to need relief.
And you are allowed to make room for yourself too.

💛 Self-Care Reminder:
A full plate may explain why you’re tired, but it doesn’t mean you have to keep piling on. Put something down. Breathe. Start there.

A lot of people are surviving, but not truly thriving.

They’re showing up for work, family, marriage, parenting, and responsibilities every day while silently carrying pain, grief, trauma, fear, and unhealthy patterns.

Therapy can help you understand your triggers, heal what’s been buried, and learn healthier ways to think, cope, communicate, and respond.

It’s not just talking.
It’s healing.
It’s growth.
It’s self-care.

Sometimes self-care looks like doing the inner work so your life can feel lighter, healthier, and more whole.

Getting support is not weakness. It may be the very thing that helps you get the best out of your life.

Self-Care Spotlight: The Hidden Cost of Processed Foods 💛

Some of the easiest foods to grab are the ones quietly working against your health—
think chips, cookies, pastries, fast food, frozen dinners, sugary cereals, sodas, and even “diet” snacks.

Over time, eating a lot of highly processed foods can:
• Spike blood sugar & insulin ➝ more cravings, weight gain, and energy crashes
• Increase inflammation ➝ higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, joint pain
• Disrupt gut health & mood ➝ bloating, constipation, brain fog, and low mood

Self-care shift: today, swap one processed item for something closer to the source—fruit instead of candy, nuts instead of chips, water or tea instead of soda.
Small swaps protect your body more than you know. 💛

If this week left you feeling behind—on sleep, messages, chores, goals, or life in general—take a breath.

You are not a project that has to be “caught up” in one weekend.

Today, try this gentle reset:
• Pick one thing to finish.
Not everything. Just one small task your future self will thank you for.

• Pick one way to rest.
A nap, a slow shower, quiet time with music, or turning your phone face down for 20 minutes.

• Pick one way to be kind to yourself.
The way you talk to you. Swap “I’m so behind” for “I’m doing the best I can with what I have today.”

You’re allowed to move slowly. Progress is still progress, even when it’s quiet and small.

01/24/2026

In a Wellgazm Life, reaching your highest peak of wellness isn’t just about hormones, sleep, movement, or weight—it also includes how you care for your money.

Many women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond are carrying quiet money stress—not because they’re careless, but because no one ever really taught them how to budget or plan. Most were simply told, “pay your bills and make it work.”

When there’s no clear picture of where money is going, it often shows up as:
🧾 Anxiety every time a bill hits
🙏🏾 Swiping and hoping there’s enough there
😳 Avoiding the bank app because it’s hard to “see it”

That’s not a character flaw.
That’s a missing skill—and it’s never too late to learn.

If the goal is to reach a higher level of health and wellness, finances can’t be left out of the conversation.

✨ Money-care is self-care. ✨

If budgeting feels overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be figured out alone.
A simple budgeting app, a free class at a bank or credit union, or a session with a financial coach can help build basic skills, create a plan, and provide accountability over time.

💛 Your nervous system, your sleep, and your peace of mind will thank you later.

🗓️ We’re just 10 days into the new year…

If you’re serious about making changes in your health and wellness this year, start with self-care.

Self-care is the foundation because:
• When you’re rested, you make better choices.
• When you’re nourished, you have more energy to move.
• When you feel supported, it’s easier to stay consistent.

I’m not asking you to make a resolution.
I’m asking you to make a commitment to be consistent with caring for you.

Before you try to overhaul everything, try this:
👉🏾 Pick one simple act of self-care you can commit to this week—more water, a set bedtime, a daily walk, 5 minutes of quiet, or a real lunch break.

Small self-care shifts create the stability you need for bigger health and wellness changes.
This is how you begin to reach your highest peak of wellness—one small habit at a time. 💛

Question for you: What’s one self-care habit you’re committing to this week?

This season isn’t just for presents—it’s for His presence. 🎄🙏🏾

Make room for Jesus: pause, breathe, rest, and let peace settle in your spirit. Because the best gift you can receive (and share) is the One who came to give us hope. 💛✨

Wellness starts from the inside out. By December, many of us are tired, stretched thin, and still trying to show up for everyone else.

Here’s your gentle reminder: you can’t pour from an empty cup.

This week, choose one way to refill—mind, body, or spirit:
💧 Take 10 quiet minutes just for you
💧 Move your body in a way that feels good
💧 Say “no” to one extra thing so you can rest

A Wellgazm life is built from overflow, not exhaustion. 💛
