Water, power, Wi-Fi back on!! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!! Jamaican communities rally around each other. Communal living. Today I rode with Elaine, President of Negril Business Chsmber checking on homes of friends out of country and neighbors. Sending unspoiled foods that are in deep freezers to the hungry. In my community we had charging station parties. Young, old, Jamaican, white, Dominicans gathered to charge phones. Regae, Marengue, Rap playing, young brothers brought bbq grill to cook chicken with a roll and shots of overproof rum and smokable. We met each day around 7pm till !!! Met a wonderful couple from the UK. We have become physical and spiritual friends. Meet up for breakfast at Charella Inn. Wonderful staff. Daniel Grizzle snd his daughter Sophie can be proud!! This is where many meet on Sundays for breakfast and beach all day. Wonderful place to check on people today. The impact of Hurricane Beryl was devestating. trees and wires down but all survived. Comparative Stories about Hurricane Ivan and others through the years. I was unnerved during the Hurricane but I channeled my Ancesters along with God and gained strength and fortitude. Humbled by me a Panafricanist of my own sense of privilege.and the Black Caste system. Priveledge in the sense I always had lights, phone etc, unless I didn’t pay a bill. Yes in my whole life I’ve had lights off from missing bills.
Now to find out about the less fortunate to see what I can do. Jamaicans are survivalist with a sense of community albeit a strong caste system. Solid communication days before Beryl hit. The human drums of communication did not catch anyone off guard. More to come on my story. Thanks to all friends and family who called and texted me. If I didn’t get back to you it was because limited and no phone and internet. Thank you Mia!! Such a wonderful support for her Queen Mother!! We talk daily!! Love to all. Stay grateful and give thanks daily.🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲
