I started a YouTube channel 6 years ago with the desire to put out hair tutorials. I did that for a few months and then that desire was quickly fulfilled. I stopped making videos for years.

Well, today I got back on there and uploaded a new video. This time with new intentions. On my channel I’ll be sharing conscious and holistic living content through the lens of birth, motherhood, and self development.

Today’s video is “3 Things I Wish I Had Known Before I Had My First Baby”. If you’re pregnant with your first baby/ babies and looking for some insight into what to expect after birth, check this video out.

Family, friends, and random strangers at the grocery store tend to give you the same generic and cliche advice when it comes to having a baby.“Sleep when the...

Meet your birth prep coach/ doula ✨

Hey, I’m Dasia. I have a passion (I really feel that it’s a calling) to spread the word that birth can be beautiful, joyful, and transformative. I do this by prepping women to be physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually prepared for the journey.

When I’m not busy supporting expecting families, you can find me:

Taking a walk in nature with my family 🌱
Binge watching Snowfall (I’m obsessed)
Or getting some intentional movement in 🧘🏾‍♀️

When you’re not working, what things do you like to do? Tell me below!

Anybody else feel like they’re in a season of transition? Like you’re not exactly in the same place you used to be but you’re not yet fully moved into the next phase of your life.. a state of limbo…

You’re just kind of out here floating and don’t feel fully grounded. It’s a little scary.. the unknown.

I’ve been talking to SO many people who feel like they are in this place right now. I wanted to share something with you.

“Whenever you start to feel overwhelmed by the reality of an unknown future, I hope you can remember that today used to be one of those days that you worried so tirelessly about. Now, here you are, on the other side of that unknown, successfully making it through every moment, one breath at a time. And the fact that you’re still breathing and finding light along the path is proof: your unknowns have not defined you. Even here, there is more to you”.

Just keep holding on and know that it’ll all make sense soon🤎

If the uncertain and unknown season of your life involves preparing for birth and motherhood, you don’t have to navigate that alone. I dedicate my work to making sure that you feel fully held, seen, guided and supported as you go on this journey.

Book a free pregnancy/ birth chat with me at the link below and tell me where you are on your journey. I would love to see how I can support you.

Similar to giving birth for the first time, it is hard to plan for the unexpected of what life after baby will look like.

Here are 3 HUGE ways that you can make life after baby a much smoother ride👶🏾

1). Make a serious plan for how you will nourish yourself.

Nourishment can come in the form of eating healing foods, checking in with yourself weekly about how you are doing mentally/ emotionally, and making time to do that one thing that you really love (like reading a book). Placing a priority on caring for yourself as your care for your new baby is essential.

2). Delegate as many daily/ weekly house tasks as possible.

Caring for a newborn is like having 2 full time jobs. Lighten the load by delegating as many day to day/ week to week house tasks as possible.

Examples:
- order your groceries to be delivered vs. going in the store
- hire a housecleaner (even on a tight budget, bringing someone in to clean just once a month can be life changing)

3). Have an honest conversation with your partner about your expectations of them.

Often times, we have expectations of people that we don’t always clearly express. We just kind of expect people to understand what we need. This can present a problem when you are in the thick of navigating parenthood for the first time with your partner.

Before baby is born, have a conversation with your partner about the role that you see them playing. This is not a rigid plan, but rather a way to open up dialogue. Once baby is born, extend grace to each other as you both figure out how to settle into your new roles and shift in family dynamic.
