Well-being isn’t built in a single month or through one resolution. It’s shaped through small, consistent moments of connection, creativity, and care throughout the year.

Social prescribing offers a way to turn intention into action by helping people engage in community-based experiences that support mental health, reduce isolation, and strengthen belonging.

At Art Pharmacy, we believe progress doesn’t require a reset. It starts wherever you are and continues one meaningful step at a time.

College campuses are rethinking how they support student well-being and many are looking beyond traditional clinical models alone.

Across higher education, campus leaders are innovating with approaches that prioritize connection, belonging, and prevention alongside counseling services. Social prescribing is one of those solutions, helping students engage in community-based supports that reduce isolation and strengthen well-being beyond the clinic.

In our recent Higher Ed webinar, leaders shared why these approaches matter and how they can help students who might otherwise fall through the cracks.

Watch the conversation and hear from campus leaders on what’s working and what’s next:

This is the power of social prescribing. By connecting older adults to community engagements they might not explore alone, we help open doors to curiosity, confidence, and connection. Well-being grows when people feel supported in discovering what brings them joy.

This week, Art Pharmacy is headed to Chicago for the NASPA Strategies Conferences, where student affairs leaders from across the country will gather to advance student mental health, well-being, and prevention efforts on campus.

We’re proud to be part of conversations that recognize student well-being as more than clinical care alone. Social prescribing offers colleges and universities a way to support students through community connection, belonging, and non-clinical support that meet students where they are.

We look forward to connecting with fellow practitioners and sharing how community-based approaches can strengthen student mental health nationwide.

Art Pharmacy is proud to partner with to launch a new social prescribing program supporting student mental health, marking the first partnership to feature nature-based engagements as part of a social prescribing program on campus.

As college students across the country face rising rates of anxiety, depression, and isolation, this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to preventive, community-centered care. Through social prescribing, students can be connected to non-clinical, community-based activities that support well-being beyond traditional clinical services such as nature walks, museum exhibitions, art classes, and more.

We’re grateful to Dartmouth’s leadership, faculty, and student affairs teams for their partnership and thoughtful approach to advancing whole-person student health. We look forward to the impact this program will have on campus.

Loneliness isn’t just a personal issue — it’s a workplace issue. Research shows that nearly 60% of employees report loneliness, which directly impacts engagement, retention, and overall well-being. According to Cigna, each lonely worker costs employers an estimated $4,200 annually in lost productivity and missed days of work.

Social prescribing offers employers a new pathway: connecting employees to meaningful community engagements that strengthen belonging, reduce stress, and improve mental well-being.

Project Connect is designed to help organizations build healthier, more connected teams — because a culture of belonging supports everyone.

A new feature in Mental Health Weekly’s Annual Innovation Issue highlights how social prescribing is helping students and older adults feel more connected, supported, and well.

The piece underscores what we see every day across our programs: when people engage in arts, culture, and community activities, loneliness drops, wellbeing rises, and whole-person health becomes possible.

From dance classes to botanical gardens, creative workshops, and cultural performances—these experiences create belonging, reduce isolation, and make care feel more human. We’re grateful to see this movement recognized, and even more grateful to our members, clinicians, and community partners who make this work real in people’s lives.

Business Insider recently spotlighted an emerging truth in healthcare: connection is doing what AI can’t.

Across the U.S., clinicians are turning to social prescribing and community-based supports to address rising loneliness — because real human connection creates measurable improvements in well-being that technology alone can’t replicate.

At Art Pharmacy, we see this firsthand. When members participate in community engagements and non-clinical support, their loneliness decreases, their well-being improves, and they feel genuinely seen and supported. Human connection doesn’t sit outside healthcare, it strengthens it.
