SAD (seasonal affective disorder) 😔😞🫤 This was me the moment I realize yesterday that my winter nemesis: Seasonal Affective Disorder was lifting! 🥳😀 I woke up and a switch had been flipped on! It’s kind of like that musical episode every series has. But, I’m the only one dancing all over the place. 🎵🎶💃🏽🎶🎵 Everything that happened elicited a musical number in my head that my mind/body was compelled to act out…..dramatically. 🫠😳 My coworkers gave me side-eye……..

❄️☃️Winter Self-Care!! ☃️❄️. As the days get shorter and we’re forced inside by the cold… remember to step up your Self-Care game. For me that means taking my meds on time (esp the seasonal affective disorder med) and exercising to increase my endorphins. Also, remembering my limits, saying no when I need to and binge watching my favorite K-drama shows! Lol

🤪 What happened to those days when I used to jump out of bed and get dressed in eager anticipation of my first cup of coffee?! 😳
Now I have to do a maintenance check of all systems before I move so that I don’t end up on the floor with a series of leg cramps while trying to drag myself to the toilet because I’ve been holding my p*e since 3am! 😩😩

🤪 Sometimes I walk passed a room with a comatose patient on a vent and think, lucky you!
😩 Sometimes as hard as you try, the world is an as***le! And you can’t wait to get back into bed!
😜 Sometimes you drink your CBD Coffee, take ALL the medications and you still can’t remember what day it is, you trip over air and walk into walls.
😔 Sometimes you do all the right things and still the wrong things happen.
😀 Then you remember that TOMORROW is another day. There’s more CBD Coffee, and a new chance for something GOOD to happen to you!

Have a MENTAL HEALTH SURVIVAL KIT?
😳🤪🤨😔😱😩😜
Good mental health allows us the ability to form and maintain good relationships. It helps us to cope with adversity, learn, grow and take care of ourselves and others.

There are so many triggers that can affect our mental health. Here are a few of the USUAL SUSPECTS.

* Sensory Overload
* Pain
* Illness
* Allergies
* Digestive Issues
* OCD / ADHD / Anxiety
* Heat / Cold intolerance
* Low Blood Sugar
* Hangries (hunger leading to anger)

Your mental health and well-being can be nurtured and enhanced with the appropriate care. Having a Mental Health Survival Kit at the ready to aid in managing common challenges is super important.
🤔 Make a list of your triggers and create a Kit of your own. Make it portable and easily accessible. Don’t forget to periodically check in with yourself so that your kit stays up to date with your needs.

THE WORST PART OF MS
For me, the COGNITIVE & EMOTIONAL
problems are the worst part of MS. They’re like a slippery slope on the way to a bowl full of ANXIETY.
First, I find myself in the midst of Cog Fog (problems w/ concentration, focus, memory, verbal fluency, information processing), which then leads to mood swings (because now I’m stressed out). Then, finally anxiety because I’ve gotten little to nothing done and I can’t begin to prioritize and plan my way out of this mess! And please let there not be a person I have to deal with while I’m in The Fog. I’m most likely to look at them like a deer in headlights, and just walk away…😩
It’s freakin horrible! I end up feeling like a useless failure, which if not checked could lead to a depressive episode.
This’ll kick up the anxiety another notch, which worsens the Cognitive Fog, my irritable mood and still rising ANXIETY level! 😳😩
It’s a vicious circle. A horrible cycle.
People SEE those struggling with the physical aspects of Chronic illness. They DON’T SEE the invisible mental load and the emotional toll it takes.
And unfortunately a heavy mental load can often lead to a physical relapse.
That’s why we must guard our Mental Health.
How do I deal with Brain Fog?

- lists, lists, lists and more lists
- Timers/Alarms
- Doing the hard stuff when I’m most energetic
- Naps! (Honestly, it’s doctor recommended)
And most recently I’ve started to be kind to my SELF and take mini breaks in between projects/tasks.
