✨ Today, I felt deep gratitude for being in the right place at the right time. I went to the doctor’s office, just minding my business… and Spirit placed me in the middle of something beautiful.
👴🏽 While I was waiting, I overheard a conversation between two older Black men. One of them, sitting proudly, said with a huge smile, “If God blesses me to see September, I’ll be turning 90.”
The other man responded with awe, “Man, that’s such a blessing!” 🙏🏾💛
👣 Just then, a gentleman came walking out from the back—slow but steady, leaning on his walker—and he overheard the convo. Without skipping a beat, he said out loud: “I’ve got you beat by a few years.” 😏🔥
The 90-year-old man turned his head like, “Now hold on, how old are YOU?” He just knew—knew—this man wasn’t older than him. Not only did this elder overhear the convo, but he had the nerve to interrupt and challenge the crown 😂💪🏾. Real “Old Men’s Club” energy. That gentleman’s cock-measuring moment LOL 🐓🤣
🗣️ The elder said proudly: “I’m 97.”
And baby, the whole room erupted!! 🥹🎉 Men leaped up to shake his hand, celebrate him, give him his flowers right then and there. And he stood there graciously saying thank you while holding his walker—still upright, still smiling, still walking.
Then the sitting man looked to the guy beside him and asked, “Is this your grandson?”
To which the 97-year-old replied, “No, that’s my third son.” 👨🏾🦳➡️🧔🏾♂️
Both of them standing tall. Both in good spirits. Both in good health. It was like watching generations of strength and grace in real time. 🖤✨
And I just sat there… quiet… smiling to myself like “Damn, this is what it means to live.”
🪞It reminded me that I’m still young. That life is worth living. That there’s so much joy, so much to strive for, and so much soul left to walk out. Even on days when it hurts.
📸 I captured a photo of that moment—not of faces, of course, because I didn’t have their permission—but just the essence. And I hope the joy I felt while witnessing that moment touches somebody else too.
🌱 It was a sacred reminder: Celebrate LIFE while you have it.
