1 year ago today we played one of the coldest rounds of disc golf ever in the history of GA disc golf* - single digits plus wind chill. It was an awesome round and no one got hypothermia.

Huge thanks to for imparting his wisdom on putting.

Super thankful that the rain held off so we didn't have to play battle putt/dodgeball under the gazebo ðŸĪŠ

In the collection: this is a Prodigy Disc A2 with the Isaac Robinson mistwalker stamp. The plastic and stamp combination are so ridiculous that I cannot bring myself to throw or bag this disc. Therefore it resides on display in the disc museum.

The semi-transparent plastic is either 500 or 750 but I can't tell because there is no ink on the disc. No weight/plastic/run and definitely no marks from me.

The multiple holographic stamps look insane, so hard to capture with a camera, pictures don't do it justice.

There could be others out there like it, but I'm considering this a 1 of 1 until I see another.

Round Review: here are two nice rounds from LMP league nights. You can tell by the scores that we're playing from the short tees now 😂.

You can see by comparing the scorecards that if you just stay out of the ditch/pit on 15 it's a pretty simple birdie.

Missed easy putts were the only nasty bits in the -5 round. Frustrating because I hit from deep C1 and C2 to score birdies on other holes AND dropped in a split stance chicken wing 🍗 from a ditch around a tree ðŸŒē to save par on 4.

The weather for these evening rounds has been great, it's sad we're losing light so early...and we'll really get wrecked when DST is over 🌕.

In the bag: Prodigy Disc Reverb, 13 | 5 | 0 | 3.5, I don't go to this disc much, but it is solid for those headwind throws where my go to driver will get wrecked by the wind.

This stamp is awesome. I love the concept and ex*****on. I also like the Prodigy 400 plastic. Slightly gummy for good grip but not overly flexible or soft.

If you don't already have a headwind disc give this a try! It's available in the Prodigy Team store.

Round Review: I went into this round with a good mindset. We decided to play long tees to long baskets and I thought that +9 with a mix of birdies and bogeys would be my fate.

High points: I played hole 1 exactly how I envisioned, hyzer flip turnover to get me close enough for a soft eagle bid and an easy birdie. Putting was great today, I only missed 1 putt inside circle one (which also happened to coincide with the awful turn of events on 11). I saved par on 18 with my birdie game plan...here's what I mean: my tee shot hit a tree, but I reached my intended landing zone with a stand-still mid. Then I played out my birdie plan from there ending with a tap in par. If I hit the 1st landing zone I've got the skillz to get the bird ðŸĨ.

Low points: UPSHOTS. Shanked upshots on 2, 4, 6, 11, and 20 cost me strokes. A mix of simple errors contributed to them but the unifying factor was under-commitment. Hole 11 was 1 foot away from being ok, but I nailed the right shot shape with the right disc....right into the tree marked with the "X" in the picture. After that it was 1 bad shot, followed by 1 great shot, followed by 3 bad shots, and a tap in.

I'm looking forward to returning to Central to try longs to longs again. I think with better upshots and the same mindset I can bring it down to even par.

In the Bag: Discmania Cloudbreaker, 12 | 5 | -1 | 3, I use this for massive shots, when massive shots are called for. Off the shelf it is probably a little on the slightly over-stable side, but this one is seasoned 🧂ðŸŒķïļ to perfection.

The swirly S-line plastic feels great, looks great, and has worn in well.

In the hype video from the drop last year Eagle McMahon called it "the people's Cloudbreaker." That has held true for me and could be one of the more accurate statements made in a disc marketing video.

You can still find these at some retailers, but they aren't available on Discmania's site, so if you run across one or have one lying around that you don't use send it my way! ðŸ“ĶðŸ“Ļ

Round Review: the strange case of Dr. Jekyll vs. Mr. Can't make a C1 putt. You may notice the is the exact same score as last week's round review...but the rounds could not be more different.

High points: 13/18 fairway hits. I was getting off the tee just fine and on holes without fairway hits the scramble ðŸģ was good....so why wasn't my score better?

Low points: putting disaster! 9 C1 misses (3 airballs ðŸ’ĻðŸ’ĻðŸ’Ļ) is the story of this game. Just getting several low putts a couple inches higher brings the score to even ðŸĪĶ.

I closed my last round review with this: "$10 says that next time I play I drill 16/18 fairways but then can't make any putts outside 15ft...anyone up for that action?"

No one took me up on it, good thing too, I would be laughing all the way to the bank ðŸĶðŸ’ļ!

On this shot accuracy > distance. You're better off getting a putter 200ft down the center of the fairway than blasting a driver into the ether (if you can accuracy+distance kudos, carry on with your game plan).

Likewise, taking the best first step is important in rehab. Small great steps add up to great solutions, one massive ok step gets ok results.

Make the great, accurate play: call the Disc Golf Doc.

Weekly Wisdom Wednesday: Pain is a request for change. Your body wants you to do something different...but what change do you need to make?

Prior injury - with the ankle a prior sprain is the most frequent culprit in a chronic pain situation. After the injury you develop altered movement patterns or lack full proprioceptive input from secondary outcomes returning from the injury. Targeted strength and balance training can be effective for eliminating these problems.

If you recently sprained your ankle you must take the correct steps to return to sport post-injury to avoid ending up in the "prior injury" category!

Compensation for hip issues at the ankle aren't as common as the knee or back (closest victims in the kinetic chain) but are still possible. Any missing range of motion will be "found" somewhere in the system by your brain 🧠 to get the throw done...the ankle is not immune to being a victim of compensatory issues.

Need help with ankle pain? Call The Disc Golf Doc.
