Sickle cell disease is not a rare disease. It is particularly common in populations from sub-Saharan Africa, the West Indies, India, the Middle East and the Mediterranean Basin. It is probably the first genetic disease in the world and an estimated 50 million people are affected. In Africa, this disease is widespread and affects one in every hundred children. Sickle cell disease also affects South America, the United States, North Africa, and incidentally countries such as Greece, Turkey and Portugal. In some parts of Africa, sickle cell disease affects up to 2% of newborns. Feared by people, it is a genetic anomaly affecting red blood cells’ hemoglobin. It appears when the child carries the two responsible genes bequeathed by both parents.
Sickle cell disease is manifested by various symptoms such as pain, infections, anemia and severe crisis events. In patients, the pain manifests itself in different ways, all dependent on its sensitivity and psychology. For many, chronic pain is expressed as crushing of bones and joints. Pain is the first cause of hospitalization in patients, describing it as a real torture.
Mostly anemic, sickle cell patients cannot live a normal life. In severe cases, patients undergo blood transfusions that can lead to iron overload as well as building Antibodies that, in the future, will make it difficult to find a blood transfusion match.
To help alleviate symptoms related to the sickle cell, we’ve formulated Genesis. A plant-based supplement with minimal side effects that comprises two plants, cultivated in Africa: Fagara Xanthoxyloides (S***m Apple) and Calotropis Procera (Artar Root).
Fagara zanthoxyloides a Rutaceae, is widely distributed in Uganda and other African countries. It is well known for its varied uses in traditional medicinal practices. The root-bark extract is used in treating elephantiasis, toothache, malaria, dysmenorrhoea and abdominal pain. Workers in West Africa have reported the anti-sickling and antimicrobial activity of the extracts of the plant.
Calotropis Procera, is a plant. The bark and root bark are used for medicine digestive disorders for painful conditions including cramps, joint pain, and parasitic infections.
Extensive researches and clinical studies have been conducted since 1995 and were successfully approved in the continent of Africa in 2010. Since then, million of sickle cells patients have been able to have fewer pain crisis and shorter hospital stay.
