Returning to social media has been filled with complexities. It's not that I doubted that I was good at it - I had to question why? Why would I put forth so much effort in crafting content, just for it to not be seen or forgotten about within 7 seconds of watching it.

Whether it's social media, management agencies, publishing sites, etc. What I've come to realize is that 1 - we don't treat art with the sacredness it deserves and 2 - the mindset is creation > creative.

To often, for creatives in the therapy room, the focus is on how to become more disciplined or how to achieve goals quicker, when the truth is that we need to be resting and being present with life to create art that is fulfilling to us FIRST.

So before you go into a pit of self-doubt, questioning what you are doing wrong, acknowledge what it is that you're facing. Only then can change be made and only then can you discover what you truly want success to be.

We're halfway through the year and while you may be focused on how to make the second half of the year count, how about you live and be with your own creative powers?

Let July be a time to return home to your body, creativity and most authentic version of you. Allow art making be the map to determine the pathway home. And when you are able to use your creativity to tend to you , watch how you are then able to reach your wildest dreams!

Hi There! I'm Chalice - A licensed professional counselor and expressive arts therapist and if my journey has taught me anything, it's that:

Creativity was always the map, not the destination. 🗺️

From kitchen concerts as a child to curating healing spaces for Black women and within corporate spaces, creativity has been my compass. It has carried me back home when I lost myself in societal expectations, the path of the "American dream,” and burnout.

Today, I help creatives and mission-driven teams realign with the truest parts of themselves, so that they are not just creating beautiful work, but to build lives and cultures that feel like they belong to them.

Through trauma-informed, culturally grounded practices, I support clients in makeing space for clarity, safety, and creative freedom. And we use the power of art making and creativity to find their ways back home.

It's been quiet this way (let me be real, it's quiet quite often around here), but this time for good reason.

Chalice Creates is now the moniker for Chalice Nelson, LPC. As I've gone through transitions and evolutions along this professional journey, it only felt right to ensure that my branding was reflective of that too.

💗 I am expanding. Stillness has allowed me to see the vision with greater clarity. Now having greater knowledge and insight, I'm excited to reach beyond the couch and get back to supporting the community, creative agencies and mission-driven workplaces with education, experiences and resources to stay sustainably creative.

🦋I am evolving. I began my practice knowing that creativity would be the at the center of my work. Now, after attaining my expressive arts therapy certification, the ideas are coming and deserve to be executed. I'm giving myself permission to grow and change along this entrepreneurship journey as long as my values are at the forefront.

🛤️I am still creating the path. The full rebrand isn't yet done yet - my website is a completely different vibe! But guess what? That's ok. Entrepreneurship is messy, it's a journey of constantly navigating when things don't go right. So instead of waiting for the perfect time, I'll acknowledge that now is always a good time to start, things can be added along the way.

✨This journey is filled with possibilities. The transition to Chalice Creates has been on my heart for some time. It moves beyond the traditional cookie-cutter experience of a therapist calling you out through a screen and telling you what to do. It's a brand supporting creatives through the lens of a creative... Offering validation, accountability, hope and an opportunity to build a stronger relationship with your intuition.
