I wrote and shared this back in October, but I felt it needed to be shared again today.
Each morning, I drive home from taking my son to school and there is always this one spot on the road home that dips down into a super wooded area and my windshield gets slapped with a sudden sheet of fog. The first time it happened, I freaked out because there is a curve coming out of it and the sun is in that place where it's impossible to block and becomes just another factor interfering with my view of the road. I remember feeling blinded and immediately pulled off of the side of the road that first drive through. Every morning since, I have expected it and tolerated it a little better. I make sure I slow down, I have the defrost blasting, and the sun visor in a spot that will help as much as it can. It has finally become just another tiny obstacle in my daily drive even though it once made my heart race, worry take over, and panic set in.
This morning as I drove through it, God spoke to me and gave me a message to share with you.
Fog forms only at low altitudes and it will mess with your vision of the path ahead of you every time. There may even be other factors that suddenly pop up to deter your course even more so than already.
Do you know what else is true of valleys?
Valleys have some of the most fertile soil. In comparison to a mountain... Your valley is far more likely to grow and produce mature and healthy plants.
Yes, this valley is at low altitude and there is always more than one factor discouraging you from your destination. The place you are meant to be is still on the other side of it and though you can't see it through all the fog and turns of the road, God placed you in the obstacle to prepare you for the next. He allows trials in order to also achieve maximum strength and growth. Every time you go through that fog, things will appear a little clearer. The next time, you will be a little more prepared and your defense will be a little more intentional, and before you know it... you will see that God built you with more wisdom and resilience to overcome the next wall blocking your path. Every single time you trust it and keep pushing, your faith grows that much stronger. You must understand that it's so important to keep planting in that place where the most fertile soil is. You cannot sit stagnant in a place and expect to produce.
This isn't just about some fog on a curvy road blurring the view of your destination. This isn't bad luck or the enemy taking jabs. That is giving him too much power. This is God building you into a stronger version of yourself. The enemy can only play with your mindset. By the way.... you have complete control of that. Choose the mindset of growth. The enemy can keep the mindset of unfortunate circumstances, the mindset of self-pity, and the mindset of impossible.
Let God be your eyes in that fog.
Let God be your feet on that twisting road.
Let God be your strength in that Valley.
Let God guide you through that place of growth.
Let God
