COVID-19 UPDATE, April 2
Dear Arris Customers, Partners & Friends,
To start, we continue to be free of any COVID-19 diagnosis within the entire Arris family. We feel very fortunate for that.
For several weeks, Arris, like thousands of small businesses around the world, has been trying to navigate these uncharted waters brought upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic. Relative to those in the travel, restaurant and hospitality industries, and certainly relative to the many first-responders, nurses and doctors on the front lines, our challenges have been minor.
Through it all, our primary concern has always been the health and safety of our families, employees and communities, and we have tried to balance that as best as possible with continuing to serve our customers’ needs as well.
As mentioned in a previous communication, a mandatory stay-at-home order was issued by the City of Atlanta last week, and stay-at-home order goes into effect tomorrow (April 3rd) for the entire State of Georgia. Although technically Arris has qualified for an exemption to the order (at least for the City of Atlanta) as an “essential business”, with the COVID-19 crisis escalating and the health of our employees, especially those in manufacturing roles, becoming more at risk, the question then becomes not whether we are granted an exemption but rather, what’s the right thing to do for our employees and their families. What’s the right thing for Arris to do to help lessen the spread and severity of this COVID-19 pandemic we’re all facing.
In light of the situation, effective Friday, April 3rd, Arris’ Manufacturing Operation and Administrative Operations will be CLOSED until at least Monday, April 20th. We will monitor emails and respond as best as we can to each one.
As you can imagine, a 2-week to 2-week+ shutdown is going to be inconvenient for many of us, and we apologize sincerely for any inconveniences this causes our customers. There will be challenges to manage the backlog and rescheduling of ship dates, but once we reopen, our #1 priority will be to expedite orders and do whatever is necessary as a company to get things back on track and take care of as many emergency orders as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your understanding. We will provide an update soon regarding our status. In the meantime, we hope you and your families stay safe and healthy.
Regards,
Arris
