Retailer of the Month: GIAS Organics (East Point, GA)
Some health stores sell products. GIAS Organics builds relationships.
Tucked into the heart of East Point on Main Street, GIAS Organics has become the kind of place people don’t just shop—they return to, recommend, and talk about like it’s part of the neighborhood’s “infrastructure.” That’s why we’re proud to name GIAS Organics our Retailer of the Month.
At the center of it all are Idris Ali and his wife Gail, long-time naturopathic herbalists whose approach is grounded in something simple: you can’t separate wellness from human connection.
“Being a naturopath is fundamentally a person-to-person profession,” Idris says. “When you’re dealing with people’s health… you have to relate to them in a way that will not only build trust but make them comfortable that you can help them.”
A Store That Feels Like Family
If you ask customers why they keep coming back, you hear a theme: GIAS feels personal.
One customer put it plainly: “This is my neighborhood health store… I come here for my alkaline water… and… tea… to keep my throat and voice healthy.”
Another customer, Carlos, described the difference between GIAS and the typical “retail” experience: “They’re very knowledgeable about the products that they sell. It’s not just a gimmick… It’s about the experience and the knowledge.”
And the “family” vibe isn’t an accident. Idris is intentional about dropping the stiffness that makes people shut down—especially when they’re already stressed, sick, or overwhelmed.
“We have a reputation of treating people like family… We’re just informal—like, you’re home… you’re in good hands.”
A Community Anchor
GIAS is more than a store with good shelves; it’s a community touchpoint.
Customers see it as part of the fabric of East Point—something worth protecting and supporting.
Stan (a regular customer) explained why he sticks with GIAS even when cheaper options exist: “When I see something that really is serving the community… I try to support them as much as I can. Even if I could get something at a little bit lower price elsewhere, I try to just come here still.”
Another customer captured the emotional side: “It’s a warming safe space… if there’s ever any minerals or vitamins that we have any questions about… we’re always able to reach out… and we’ll be able to feel that same energy when we come into the space.”
That combination—access + trust + familiarity—is why locally-owned health stores matter.
Idris described how word of mouth fuels the store’s growth: “Every single day someone comes in the store and says, ‘My friend at work told me about you.’”
The Expertise You Can’t Get at Big-Box
One of the most repeated comments across both videos: customers don’t come to GIAS just for products—they come for guidance.
Carlos said it best: “There is no limit to my health as far as getting my products here… and I also recommend it to other friends and family.”
And when asked what makes GIAS different from larger stores, Idris explained the practical value: “When they come to us, we do our due diligence… If they come in for high blood pressure… you can share with them what they can expect… as well as what’s in the product.”
Even Dr. Stephen Tates echoed that point, praising the store for being the opposite of “run you in, run you out” retail: “Here, people can ask questions… and they’re very honest about, ‘No, you don’t need this. This will be better… less expensive… and work more effectively.’”
Full Line of Dr TATES Tonics Available at GIAS
GIAS Organics carries the full line of Dr TATES Herbal Tinctures & Tonics, and both Idris and Gail spoke strongly about why the products fit their philosophy.
Gail put it in a way customers instantly understand: “Doc’s Tonics are very well-rounded in the sense that they cleanse, they balance, they heal, they rebuild… I always tell people we all need that.”
Idris added his own “herbalist’s” reason: “The herbs that he puts in his tonics are amongst my favorites… absolutely wonderful in terms of cleansing… rebuilding and healing the body.”
Why They’re Retailer of the Month
GIAS Organics isn’t winning because it’s trendy. It’s winning because it’s real: expertise, warmth, and a store that treats wellness like a relationship—not a transaction.
As Dr. Tates said while standing right out front on Main Street: “It’s like I’m home. I feel safe… they’ve got their best interests at heart.”
That’s the standard—and that’s why GIAS is our Retailer of the Month.
