🏳️‍🌈 PRIDE MONTH IS HERE! 🏳️‍🌈 This month-long celebration is an opportunity to celebrate the beautiful spectrum of gender and sexuality and come together to fight for equality and justice in the LGBTQ+ community.
While Pride Month has become known for beautiful, boisterous rainbow parades throughout the country (and world!), the LGBTQ+ community celebrates this month in honor of a long, tumultuous history towards equal rights in the United States. That tumult finds us today, in the face of nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills currently in state legislatures across the country.

More than ever, the q***r community deserves the space to rejoice, grieve, dance, and feel together in safety — and while a month isn't nearly long enough, it's a great place to start.

Swipe for some ways we can all join in celebrating, taking thoughtful action, and making this the safe, affirming time it absolutely should be.

➡️ And tap this post under the "Recent Instagram Links" button at the link in our bio for even MORE ways to celebrate — at school, at work, as an ally, and more.

While we can’t choose our parents, we have control over the kind of mother we want to be. Choose to grow into that mother. Find that new role model, say you’re sorry, and pat yourself on the back for owning up to the fact that none of us are perfect. Then, give yourself grace and feel darn good about all the growth you make day in and day out in this journey called motherhood. See, we aren’t meant to walk this journey alone. And when we try to, everyone suffers. And yet, we have this idea that we will somehow just know how to parent. That loving our children automatically comes with the ability to parent them. But as with most things in life, parenting is something we learn. Either we learn it as a child, receiving the love and care in such a way that we are able to pass it on because in our bones we know it. Or we know it in our hearts but not in our bones, and then we have to learn how to transmit it. Or, some of us are busy unlearning what we learned so we can re-learn something new entirely. Learning is no shame. It is an honor, a bravery. An act of courage that says I know what I got, but I am more than that. I have a dream in my heart that is bigger than my reality. And I am going to be brave enough to learn how to make it happen. I am going to rewrite that which was written down before me and handed to me. I will make it my story, and then it will be my kids. And they will make it theirs. Thank you .1_1 .opossum.lad for making me a mom♡

Atlanta Pride Committee Statement on Senate Passage of SB 140

In Georgia, SB140, a bill banning life-saving medical care for trans people, passed the Senate yesterday and now heads to the House. The Atlanta Pride Committee has been working to educate the community about this bill and will continue to fight what we know is harmful legislation.

While the actions of many of our state representatives sadden us, we will continue to support the Transgender community. This is a cultural war that will harm transgender youth and their families by seeking to deny access to gender-affirming medical care for trans minors. Senate passage of SB 140 is an extremist government overreach, which removes parents' ability to work with their medical teams and adhere to standards of care to make decisions regarding their child's healthcare.

The Atlanta Pride Committee applauds all of the parents, medical providers, and supporters of transgender youth who have continually shown up over the last two weeks to urge their Senators to oppose this bill. We will continue to support Transgender youth and their families because we recognize that EVERY Georgian has a right to feel visible and safe in our community.

We will continue to work with other local advocacy organizations to support our Transgender siblings best as the bill now heads to the House of Representatives.

Healthcare is a human right. Transgender rights are human rights. We call on our entire LGBTQ+ community to actively fight for these rights for ALL of us.

Connection is a practice. Dolly Parton makes connection a practice. So did Mr. Rodgers. When we build a practice of connection to the sky, the trees, animals, sunlight, the breeze, and to those we care about a beautiful synergy builds. As it gains strength and becomes the default way that we meet the world, we gain a better ability to give love and receive love more deeply. We become better able to melt into yummy intimacy as depicted in these pictures. But it is a practice. Many of us have been hurt by those who were supposed
to love us. As a result, we chase love hard, but once we get it, we often become scared and push it away, sabotage it, etc. But if we build a connection practice to anything good in our life, we can build up a tolerance for love and connection like building up a muscle in the gym. This deeper ability to love well, has a ripple effect that positively impacts all life if you let it. Credit:

"Seventeen men in Northeast Ohio were arrested and charged as the result of a human trafficking investigation that took place on Dec. 8...Reports indicate one of the men, Robert Kasler, is a pastor at Manchester Christian Church in New Franklin. He's listed as the church's senior pastor." (via WKYC)

The New York Times has become America's BBC. The entire org is dedicated to releasing anti-trans propaganda not endorsed by any major medical organization.

They fear-monger over transgender treatment in ways designed to curtail the rights of trans youth.

They should be ashamed.

I am not linking to the full article. It's absolutely garbage and uses testimony from individual doctors and out of context readings of studies rather than the best review of the literature done by the major medical organization to concern troll over puberty blockers.

Rather than leaning on the peer reviewed guidance of medical experts as summarized by the organizations like WPATH who set international standards for treating transgender people, they "comissioned their own analysis"

One of the authors of this story follows dozens of anti-transgender accounts on their twitter. It's a who's who of the worst anti-trans organizations out there. Genspect, SEGM, Malcolm Clark, Bugeyes, Leo Sapir, Lisa Littman, Detrans voices, Transgender Trend.

They claim puberty helps "clarify gender." I can say with certainty that puberty does NOT help "Clarify gender."

As a trans kid who was force to go through puberty, puberty traumatizes us to the point often of su***de, and those of us who survive that often HIDE our gender identities because we are terrified of being seen as freaks.

The article literally catastrophizes about hypothetical bone density loss 50 years down the line with no studies backing it up and annecdotes.

Never mind that trans kids often suffer from depression and dysphoria to the point of not exercising or going outside.

For the record, WPATH (and most other medical organizations) have addressed the HYPOTHETICAL "long term bone density loss" (this is not confirmed by studies).

Want to know how to fix it?

Vitamin D supplements, calcium, and exercise.

They also use a detransitioner who is upset that "she is left with a voice that sounds like a man's."

Trans women who were DENIED puberty blockers: "Hmmm, I wonder what that is like."

I swear, they'll deny trans care to hundreds of trans kids to protect 1 cis kid.

Being a mental health professional I agree. Also we have entire modalities built for treatment & healing from conservative, christian upbringings. This is why I deconstructed my personal relationship with christianity and will never be able to trust religion...ever. Sick & twisted religion that one. Also...common sense.
