Caruth here with a brief incite ariginooly from the virgin islands St.Vincent to be precise , came to Brooklyn the younger part of my years.. grew up there, went to public school, and I have been digging comics and drawing since the public school era…have love and always will have love for Brooklyn, but Eventurally made my way to atlanta in the mid 90’s around the time the Olympics were in Atlanta, and have been here since…That’s enough bout me…let me ink you in on how this came to be…
When the pencil found me, there were not many black super heroes out there...So, I created my own. Just as well, I didn’t see many black illustrations that embodied the essence of the life I lived…so I created my own. All the ones that I saw had eyes, Mouth, etc…So I decided that I wanted the face to be all black and just the lips…different yet distinctive. so that they would would stand out and be difffrent .. some see the world in black and white, I adopted the name inkwell, which is not just a 90’s movie, but also a deep, and never ending source… an actual well of black ink from which flows images created in the image of black people…I started with a DAB of ink, which was an acronym for dat ariginoo boy, DAB’s main focus is urban apparel with the first dab project (watifuknewhodabwas) the response was crazy . Then dat ariginoo boy (which is me) honed his graphic arts skills while attending the Art Institute of Atlanta and inkwellgraphix was born…while creating and designing under the inkwellgraphix name I began to find different media and avenues that inked my imagination…inspired by the smile of a child, kids skateboarding, a verse in a cypher, a plié of a dancer, or the wail of a mother in pain I created my own everything from fine art, to children’s books and apparel. With this new passion came inkables. I found that the world is inkable or able to flow from the well ...causing life to pay attention to others
like seeing the color in music… some might get it some might not but as an artist you don’t really do art for them you do art from how it makes you feel, your experiences and not everyone is going to like it .. not all are going to understand…
Presented by inkwellgraphix and my inkables (Art, stationary, clothing for toddlers etc.) now working on making inkables a household name so stay tuned and rockwitme.
