Fight Like Evan Evan Vickers is a little boy from a tiny town in southwest Georgia. He’s fighting hard against neuroblastoma- a form of pediatric cancer.

Evan Vickers is a 6 year old little boy from a tiny town in the southwest corner of Georgia. He’s the son of Kraig & Brittany Vickers. He loves tractors, trucks and playing outside with his little brother, Kash. He loves to laugh, listen to music and dance. From the outside looking in, Evan seems like a normal little boy. However, Evan’s story began in the womb. Doctors discovered that Evan had multiple heart defects during a routine ultrasound during Brittany’s pregnancy. Knowing he would need open heart surgery soon after birth, Evan was born in Atlanta, a 4 hour drive from his tiny hometown, with a team of specialist standing by. The surgery was successful but complications forced more procedures over the next few months. The long and frequent trips to Atlanta were difficult but necessary to provide Evan with the best possible care. The summer after his 1st birthday, Evan had scans to check a condition called hydronephrosis that he was also diagnosed with at birth. The scan revealed a mass stemming from his kidney. After surgery to remove it, Kraig and Brittany were introduced to a new team of doctors: pediatric oncologists. The new tumor was neuroblastoma- a form of childhood cancer. The successful tumor removal put Evan into remission but he quickly relapsed. This time with stage IV high risk neuroblastoma. He endured 6 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 bone marrow transplants, 20 rounds of radiation and 6 rounds of immunotherapy. Treatment was difficult for Evan and complications resulted in multiple PICU admissions throughout his 18 month treatment plan. He was airlifted back to Atlanta multiple times, required over 50 blood and platelet transfusions and endured over a dozen more surgical procedures. The summer after his 3rd birthday, Evan was cancer free for the second time. Evan was in remission for 11 months before relapsing once again. Exactly 12 months after being declared cancer free, Evan underwent surgery to remove a third tumor. He’s in the thick of a very hard fight as he prepares to fight cancer for the third time in his short 4 years of life but still radiates love, laughter and positivity. Kraig and Brittany are right beside him and committed to providing anything necessary to have Evan happy and healthy once again.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to our sweet Evan! 💚 Not a day passes that we don’t think of your infectious smile, we love and miss you more than words than say.

When Evan passed away, we had a community of friends that were committed to carrying on his legacy. On Friday, Pataula Charter Academy installed 3 Love Like Evan Buddy Benches on the playgrounds and White Oak Pastures added the 4th at their General Store in Bluffton.
Think of Evan when you see these…use them as a reminder to always be kind to yourself and others, always keep your head up and fight like Evan when necessary.
What an amazing birthday gift that we are so blessed to be able to share with everyone that loved Evan!
THANK YOU to Pataula Charter Academy for the opportunity and the hard work that went into this project of keeping his memory alive and THANK YOU to my employer, White Oak Pastures, for always holding me tight and honoring my Evan.

I apologize for not sharing much on this page anymore but please know this tribe is still very much part of our family. Grief is a strange thing and I’m doing my best every day. I’ll always share our milestones here. Forever and ever, Evan’s legacy is still going strong and we can’t wait to spread his love with everyone. 💚

Today, Pataula Charter Academy dedicated the 22-23 Year Book to our sweet Evan.

Evan was a 1st grader at PCA when he passed away. The impact left behind in his short time there is still being recognized today. We are so thankful to be part of the PCA Family!

Little brother, Kash, was so proud to accept Evan’s yearbook and even won the Design Principal Award for his Kindergarten class!

PCA is also in the process of forming a “Love Like Evan Committee”.
This will be made up of school & community volunteers that will make it their mission to keep Evan’s legacy alive.

Support is needed to bring the Committee ideas to life, one tribute/memorial at the time.
(Carpenters, landscaping, masonry work, woodworking, granite memorials, playground equipment, all the things!)

If anyone is interested in getting involved, please comment (or send privately, if preferred) your email address below!

Thank you PCA and thank you to our Love Like Evan Family for all of your continued love & support!
