Are you looking for an individualized approach to managing stress, chronic pain, or recovering from injury? Yoga therapy is a holistic way to learn strategies for well being and self care through gentle movement, breathwork, and mindfulness.

There are new openings on my March calendar for yoga therapy! You can book a FREE 15 minute consult call if you're interested in learning more about yoga therapy and how it can help you. During your call, I will answer all the questions you may have about starting the yoga therapy process. From there, if you decide yoga therapy is a good fit for you, I can go over options for virtual or in home sessions (only available to individuals in the north metro atlanta area - pricing is a little higher for in home.)

Also, if you are a mental health professional, chiropractor, medical professional, etc, feel free to share with any clients whom you believe might be a good fit for yoga therapy.

I am beginning to set up my calendar for August and I have time available for yoga therapy! I can do virtual or come to your home. I also offer group yoga therapy workshops, where I come to your organization. That is a great option for employee self care days, or for sports teams to get active recovery sessions, etc.

Yoga therapy has many great benefits for physical and mental health. It is a great complement to traditional psychotherapy. I specifically enjoy conducting yoga therapy centered around pelvic floor and core strength, pre-and post natal yoga, athletic support, and chronic pain and stress management. I am trauma informed certified, and am credentialed through the International Association of Yoga Therapy. Please send me a DM if you are interested!!

It's been a while, so I thought I'd share a little about myself for anyone who is new here.

My name is Julia. My current days are filled with parenting, teaching preschool, and working on my yoga therapy certification. I am currently a yoga therapist in training with and recently started my practicum working with clients. I also earned my 200 hour and 300 hour yoga teacher certifications through MVP and I've been teaching yoga classes for over two years now.

Other fun facts are that I am also a NASM certified personal trainer. I love running and working out at Burn Boot Camp ( working on eventually becoming a trainer). I have run 4 half marathons and 1 full marathons. I love traveling and going to Disney world. I am an ADHDer and also an ADHD/autism parent. I am neurodiversity affirming and would love for neurodiversity to be the focus of my future yoga therapy practice.

I originally started Embrace Joy Yoga back in 2021 to be an online yoga class platform that was body positive. As I have studied yoga therapy, my goals have changed to focus on individual and group therapeutic yoga. Please stay tuned for information on how to book yoga therapy with me 😊

"You may think you are not doing very much at all. All of this shifting from the inside out. All of this adjusting and readjusting to what is. All of this releasing and letting go requires energy. Transformation requires rest." - from Pause Rest Be by Octavia Raheem.

From the moment we are born into this world, we intuitively know we need rest. Babies sleep on and off all day. We tell children that they need lots of sleep to grow. Yet suddenly, as we become adults, we are thrust into hustle culture and try to rest as little as possible.

I'm not just talking about sleep. I have had many students get up quietly gather their things and leave yoga class when we come to the resting pose (Savasana) at the end. Often, people tell me that they are uncomfortable spending the extra few minutes "doing nothing."

I completely understand this feeling. Rest not sacred to many of us. For years, I strived not to "waste time" doing nothing. But I am learning to honor my need for still moments in my day. Yes, I try to get as much sleep as I can, but I am also making an effort to pursue intentional rest while I am awake.

As a yoga therapist in training, I am passionate about helping people find a balance in their life so that growth can flourish. If you are someone who finds it hard to intentionally rest, reach out to me for a free consult. I am looking for a handful of people to be a part of my yoga therapy practicum sessions. Join me Sunday evening for a deep relaxation guided practice. Yoga Nidra, often referred to as yogic sleep, is a beginner friendly practice that involves rotating your awareness to scan different parts of the body, to the breath, and visualizations. You can do this practice laying on a mat, reclining in a comfy chair, or even in your bed! This practice helps you activate your nervous system's Rest and Digest response and alleviate stress. It's a great practice to help promote good sleep.

We will also explore linking our breath to movement and practice using the breath to regulate our nervous systems.
