When it comes to numbness, tingling, weakness, or unexplained pain, guessing isn't good enough. That's why our PM&R specialist uses advanced diagnostic tools like EMG (electromyography) and NCS (nerve conduction studies) to find the real source of your symptoms.

Here's how it works:
⚡️NCS measures how well and fast your nerves send signals
💪 EMG shows how your muscles respond to those signals

Together, these tests reveal whether your pain is coming from a nerve issue, muscle dysfunction, or another source, so we can create a treatment plan that's precise and effective.

We're proud to offer this advanced care with our new PM&R specialist, Dr. Bharara, who is seeing patients in our Cartersville office.

What is PM&R? 🤔

Short for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, PM&R is a medical specialty focused on restoring function, relieving pain, and improving quality of life — without surgery.

Physiatrists treat a wide range of conditions affecting the muscles, nerves, spine, and joints. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, living with chronic pain, or facing mobility challenges, a physiatrist helps you move better and feel stronger.

We’re proud to welcome Dr. Aashish Bharara, a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, to our team at Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons — offering non-surgical solutions for spine pain.

Questions about what physiatry can treat? Drop them in the comments or call us to learn more!

Big News!

As the FIFA 2025 Club World Cup draws near, preparations are accelerating across Atlanta. The Host City Committee, the City of Atlanta, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium are working diligently to welcome six matches scheduled for June and early July 2025. Among the critical aspects of readiness is medical preparedness, led by Dr. Scott Gillogly—an esteemed orthopedic surgeon with us at Georgia Bone & Joint Surgeons in Cartersville. Dr. Gillogly has been appointed FIFA Venue Medical Officer (VMO) for both the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Atlanta, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of athletes and staff.

The 2025 tournament marks a historic expansion to 32 teams and will be hosted in the United States for the first time. Champion clubs from Europe, South America, North America, Asia, Africa and beyond will compete for the title of the world’s best club.

Looking ahead, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the biggest ever, featuring 48 teams from across the globe, further cementing soccer’s growing impact in the U.S.

As FIFA VMO, Dr. Gillogly will be responsible for overseeing all medical operations at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and coordinating care for participating teams, VIP guests, and FIFA workforce in the Atlanta region. He will work closely with the FIFA Tournament Lead, Director of Medical Administration, and Host City Medical Lead to establish partnerships with local healthcare providers and develop elite medical pathways for athletes and VIPs. In addition, he will ensure that the Field of Play and Player Medical Centre teams are fully prepared and equipped to serve as the primary resource for team doctors seeking medical support throughout the tournament.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Dr. Gillogly as his expertise is recognized on the world stage!

After years of living with knee pain, she realized she didn't want it stealing any more of life's moments.
Moments with her grandkids. Time at the beach. The ability to move without hesitation.

With courage, commitment, and a care team that believed in her, she made an incredible comeback.

From those first post-surgery steps to walking on the beach, her determination never wavered.

April is Occupational Therapy Month!
This month, we’re celebrating the essential role occupational therapists play in helping patients regain independence, improve function, and return to the activities they love.

At Georgia Bone and Joint Surgeons, we’re proud to have Baylee Cochran, OTR/L, CHT on our team. Baylee specializes in hand therapy and brings both expertise and heart to every patient interaction.

Here’s what Baylee had to say about her work:
“I absolutely love working as an occupational therapist in hand therapy. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping people regain function, confidence, and independence through their hands. Every small win a patient experiences reminds me why I chose this path. It’s a privilege to be a part of every patient’s healing journey and see their progress along the way.”

Thank you, Baylee, for your passion, commitment, and the impact you make every day!
