As a competitive athlete and someone who has struggled with several health issues, she understands the need for a regimen of daily stretching, weekly adjustments, and massage therapy. Although she has always been intrigued by the inner workings of the human body, it was only after she began competing in Figure in 2006, that this interest took a context in her life. Through the process of preparing for competition she was surprised to discover how stretching, chiropractic adjustments, and massage therapy was just as important as the proper diet and exercise regimen – not just for her-self but to other competitors as well. This discovery fueled her interest in the function of the human body and began her journey to discover how she could assist other performers. This soon led to her decision to formally study massage therapy. Tonya is a graduate of Everest Institute, where she studied under some of the best teachers and therapists in the field today. Through her work at a local branch of a popular spa chain, Tonya took advantage of the learning opportunities offered to therapists to build her skills with several different styles and techniques of therapeutic massage. After the spa began to fail, Tonya’s clientele followed her to take advantage of a full range of therapeutic treatments.
