Shannon Weist and Kim Conley, from the Office of Whole Child Supports at GaDOE presented "Integrating GaMTSS in School Nursing: A Collaborative Approach to Student Wellbeing", challenging school nurses to involve themselves in their school and district teams and share their school health data at Tier 1.

Opening keynote speaker, Dr Renee Boynton -Jarrett, pediatrician and social epidemiologist, at Boston University, challenged nurses how to be trauma aware and to "Go to Bat for Health, Well ess, and Resilience". She encouraged the nurses to show their "cape" and engage with other school staff as part of a multi disciplinary team.

The 33rd annual GASN conference is underway! Molly Sims, GaDOE Office of Whole Child Supports, shared with school nurses resources and information about MHAT (Mental Health Awareness Training. This trainings are free to staff in public schools and RESAs.

Day 2 of conference was filled with lots of great presentations by Dr. Smith on Dermatology, Corey Kirby on legal considerations for school nursing, and a panel discussion on va**ng. The panel consisted of Dr. Evan Fountain, pulmonologist, Suzanne Sumner, Health Services Coordinator Colquitt County Schools, Patti Atkinson, Climate specialist, North GA RESA, and Mark Muma, Safety Program Manager, GaDOE. The information was very relevant to school nurses!

We had enriching topics to round out our main conference first day: dermatology, importance of professional nurse, diabetes, asthma friendly schools, DPH update and nurse self care. All the presenters were amazing! We have so many talented and amazing school nurses!!! Cannot wait to see what day 2 holds!

Dr. Terri Hinkley, Executive Director of National Association of School Nurses , was the opening keynote speaker for our conference. She educated Georgia School Nurses on the updated NASN School Nursing Practice Framework.
