Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.

Red Cross LifeBoard members are an inspiring group of people committed to holding four corporate blood drives per year, adding to the crucial supply on hospital shelves.

For Dawn Anderson, a journey has come full circle. She served as a LifeBoard member and recently her Mom needed a transfusion. "When I was asked to share her story, I welcomed the opportunity," Anderson said. It was such a meaningful opportunity to talk about how blood donations gave her more time—time to meet her great-grandson, and even go wedding dress shopping with her granddaughter. Moments like those wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of donors."

Animals bring comfort when words fall short.
Stroking a dog can lower blood pressure, ease stress and reduce feelings of loneliness. During visits, animals often become the heart of the conversation, helping people open up, connect and accept support from volunteers.
That’s what happened with the Red Cross Animal Visitation Program at Fort Stewart during a recent 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (2ABCT) Resiliency Day Cookout, bringing comfort and connection to soldiers and families.

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Did you know…

Sickle cell disease is the most common genetic blood disorder in the U.S. and regular blood transfusions are critical to manage extreme pain and life-threatening complications.

For patients with sickle cell disease, blood donors who are Black are almost 3 times more likely to be a match for the blood most commonly needed, compared with donors who are not Black or African American.

Join us in recognizing National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and help us make a difference for patients by pledging to donate blood. It takes one hour, and you could save someone’s life. Thank you for your support! https://rdcrss.org/3gymsy7
