One year after Hurricane Helene, recovery in Augusta is still underway. Through a Red Cross long-term recovery grant, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is helping families rebuild both their homes and lives.

Kim Sharpton, whose home was severely damaged, said he was stunned to find himself receiving assistance. "I didn't ever think it would be me. But it is me right now. I'm having this experience and I'm so glad that help is here. I'm so glad that the safety net exists.”

In this article, homeowners share what rebuilding has meant for them and how UMCOR'S work is making it possible https://rdcrss.org/4pTjyWT

Hey, Georgia! October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month.
Someone you love could go into cardiac arrest and you might be the one who needs to save their life. That's because nearly 70% of cardiac arrests happen outside of the hospital. Protect the hearts of those you care about by learning CPR. Find a class near you: redcross.org/take-a-class.

As fall officially begins, the American Red Cross urges people to mark the new season with a lifesaving blood or platelet donation to help keep the blood supply strong. Donors of all blood types, especially those with O positive and B negative blood types, are needed now.

When you come to give blood through Oct. 19, we’ll say thanks with a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card by email. Use it to buy a fall favorite, on us! See RedCrossBlood.org/Fall for details.

The American Red Cross has supported military members and families for well over a century.

Today, we continue to care for the humanitarian needs of the U.S. military community from the time a service member takes the oath to when they navigate life as a veteran.

The Red Cross relies on the generosity of the American people to fulfill our mission. Visit https://rdcrss.org/3WaJYWw to learn more.

Knowing how to respond to an emergency or natural disaster can increase the chance of a positive outcome. This is true for your pet as well. Be prepared for both.

1. Keep a pet first aid kit on hand.
2. Have an emergency supplies kit assembled ahead of time.
3. Keep photos of your pet taken with you.
