WHAT IS ISCHEMIC COMPRESSION AND HOW DOES IT HELP?
Ischemic compression is a technique where I apply focused steady pressure to a tight or painful muscle knot (also called trigger point). It might feel a little tender at first- but as I hold the pressure, the muscle softens and the pain starts to ease.
WHY DOES ISCHEMIC PRESSURE WORK?
When I apply pressure to the trigger point, it briefly restricts blood flow and when the pressure is release, fresh blood rushes back in.
Trigger points are often overactive nerve signals causing the muscle to spasm or stay tight and holding pressure helps interrupt that signal, telling the muscle it can let go.
Ischemic compression helps reset the dysfunctional spot in the muscle and clients often feel less pain, more range of motion, and better alignment afterward.
WHEN DO I USE ISCHEMIC PRESSURE?
I use it during neuromuscular therapy when I find a trigger point thats referring pain or limiting movement. It's a powerful way to calm overworked areas- especially when you're dealing with chronic tension or nerve related pain.
