Sometimes running a business is like taking care of a baby. Today I had to reschedule all of my appointments and take care of my baby instead. Rest assured, while I was waiting on the pros to make my car safe and drivable again, I was learning from some incredible providers I got to meet and greet at the Emory Conference on Breastfeeding. We will be back at it tomorrow, feeding babies and holding parents ❤️ thanks to all the families who are flexible with days and times, because traveling all over north Georgia to see them requires some occasional maintenance on the milk mobile.

What an incredible week- and my busiest one to date! I had the pleasure of working with 13 families this week, and it was such a joy. Not so long ago I wondered if I could make this practice work, and over the last 6 years I have figured out how. Thanks so much to all the families who’ve welcomed me into your homes and allowed me to hold you and your babies. I’m so very thankful for each one of you!

You might hear this as a new parent, but don’t believe everything you hear! As soon as the placenta is expelled from the uterus your body has gotten the message to bring on the milk. The first few days don’t look like what many expect- the changes in your breasts are subtle. But the fluid that’s available for baby in the first couple of days *colostrum* is the most nutrient dense milk of it all! There often isn’t much in volume, but your baby’s tummy can’t hold much volume. NO NEED TO FOLLOW BREASTFEEDS WITH FORMULA as long as baby is latching on at least every 2-3 hours. And more often than that is good too! Newborns need constant refills of the good stuff, and that ni**le stimulation tells your body over time to increase production. That way you’ll continue to have enough milk as the baby’s tummy grows. More questions? Drop them here or send a message!
