Basic Infection Control Guidelines in Dental Clinics
1. Instruments: precleaning, transport, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and storage. Don’t forget the expiration date of wraps and/or pouches.

2. Dental Unit Waterlines:
water quality, testing of water quality Step 1: If dental clinic performs any type of surgical procedure (e.g., involving a scalpel or a suture), then clinic needs to provide sterile/ filtered water from a sterile delivery system.
Sterile water delivery systems
Filtration systems of city water.
Mobile units that have sterile water.
Step 2: Use a strong chemical to shock and clean out the inside of the lines. This needs to be performed weekly.
Step 3: Daily cleaning, Suction lines in the hygiene treatment rooms should be cleaned every day at the end of the day, to remove blood and debris, and a disinfectant that is compatible with the evacuation system should be run through the tubing.
Step 4: The low-volume suction lines should be disinfected between patients.
Step 5: Water line monitoring.
utilizing In-office testing with self-containing kits or laboratories.

3. Autoclave:
Steam or gravity. Spore test, chemical indicators, and mechanical parameters.
Daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
