Unpopular opinion: Your baby doesn't need 47 swaddles.
YOU need someone in your corner at 3am.
Registry idea that will actually change your postpartum experience: in-home doula support.

We talk a lot about the cost of postpartum support.
But what about the cost of NOT getting it?
→ Your mental health suffers when you're running on empty with no relief
→ Your body heals slower when rest isn't an option
→ Your relationship strains under the weight of doing it all alone
→ Your confidence takes a hit when everything feels impossible
→ Your sense of self disappears into survival mode
Support isn't an indulgence. It's not "nice to have."
It's how you heal. How you bond. How you come back to yourself.
Swipe to see what's really at stake — and why investing in support now saves so much more later.

“Sleep when the baby sleeps” is advice from people who’ve never been alone with a newborn.
You know what actually helps?
Someone showing up. Holding the baby. Telling you to go lie down. Handling the bottle prep, the laundry, the dishes — while you actually rest.
Not advice. Action.
📩 DM us “REST” for a free consultation

Here’s what actually happens when we show up.
No judgment about the state of your house. No side-eye at the laundry pile. No unsolicited advice.
Just someone in your corner, holding the baby so you can take a shower that lasts longer than 90 seconds. Loading the dishwasher while you nap. Prepping food you didn’t have to think about.
This is what support looks like.

✨Can we talk about something real for a second?
Peeing a little when you sneeze isn’t just “mom life.” Pain during intimacy isn’t something you have to accept. That heavy, dragging feeling? Not normal.
Your pelvic floor did a lot during pregnancy and birth. And just like any other muscle, it can be strengthened and healed.
Pelvic floor physical therapy exists. It works. And you deserve to feel like yourself again.
Save this. Send it to a friend. And if any of this sounds familiar comment HELP and we can schedule a Haven At Home consultation
💬 Drop a ✋ if you didn’t know pelvic floor therapy was a thing until way too late.

Your body just did something extraordinary — and it deserves to be fed like it.
So many new moms are running on empty, not realising that what you eat (and drink) in the weeks after birth directly impacts your energy, your mood, and your recovery.
Here are 3 evidence-based ways to nourish yourself postpartum 👇 (swipe to read each one)
✦ Iron-rich foods to replenish what birth took ✦ Intentional hydration — especially if you’re breastfeeding ✦ Omega-3s to protect your mental health
You cannot pour from an empty cup. Nourishing yourself is not a luxury — it’s part of the healing. 💛
Save this post for your recovery journey, and share it with someone who needs the reminder.
👇 Tell me in the comments: what’s the one thing that helped you feel most nourished postpartum?

The fourth trimester refers to the first 12 weeks following childbirth — a critical period of physiological and psychological adjustment for both mother and newborn.

During this phase, estrogen and progesterone levels drop by up to 90% within 24 hours of delivery. This hormonal shift is one of the most rapid in human biology and directly influences:

→ Mood regulation and emotional stability
→ Sleep architecture and quality
→ Joint laxity (due to residual relaxin hormone)
→ Cognitive function — clinically referred to as matrescence

Physical recovery is a non-linear process. Adequate rest, nutrition, and hydration are clinical priorities, not optional lifestyle choices.

Consult your healthcare provider if you have concerns about your postpartum recovery. 💕

3 SIGNS YOU NEED POSTPARTUM SUPPORT NOW 🚨

If you’re experiencing ANY of these, please don’t wait:

1️⃣ You’re crying more than your baby is—daily, multiple times a day, can’t-catch-your-breath crying. This isn’t “baby blues.”

2️⃣ You feel intense rage. Not just frustration—actual, uncontrollable anger at your partner, your baby, or yourself. You’re white-knuckling through the day.

3️⃣ You’re having scary, intrusive thoughts about harm. Thoughts that make you feel like a monster. These are symptoms of postpartum anxiety/depression.

Here’s what I need you to know: These are WARNING SIGNS, not character flaws. You’re not broken. You’re not a bad mom. You’re struggling with a treatable medical condition.

1 in 7 mothers experiences postpartum depression. 1 in 5 experiences postpartum anxiety. You are not alone.

📞 WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW:
• Call your OB or midwife today
• Text “HELP” to 741741 (Crisis Text Line)
• Call Postpartum Support International: 1-800-944-4773
• DM Us—We are here to support you during this time

Your baby needs you healthy. That starts with getting support NOW.

Which sign hit home for you? You don’t have to say much—just drop a 💙 if you’re struggling. I see you.

✨ What Does a Doula Do? ✨
Think of a doula as your personal birth & postpartum champion – someone who walks beside you with unwavering support, gentle guidance, and expert knowledge. 💕
Birth Doulas provide: 🤱 Emotional Support – A calm, reassuring presence throughout labor and delivery 💪 Physical Comfort – Pain relief techniques, positioning guidance, and breathing exercises 📚 Informational Support – Help you understand your options and make informed decisions 🫶 Continuous Care – They stay with YOU from active labor through birth
Postpartum Doulas offer: 👶 Newborn Care Education – Feeding support, sleep guidance, and infant care techniques 🛌 Recovery Support – Help you heal physically and emotionally during the fourth trimester 🏠 Household Assistance – Light meal prep, sibling support, and creating a peaceful environment 💬 Non-judgmental Space – Someone to talk to, lean on, and trust during this transition
Important to know: Doulas are NOT medical professionals – they don’t deliver babies or provide clinical care. Instead, they work alongside your doctor or midwife to ensure your emotional and physical needs are fully supported. 🌟
Studies show that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, fewer interventions, and more positive birth experiences!
At Haven Postnatal Retreat, we understand the power of supported motherhood. Whether you’re preparing for birth or navigating the postpartum journey, having the right support makes all the difference. 🌸
