First thing’s first. Let me introduce myself!
I’m Jenn.
Wife to Chris. Mom to three German Shepherds - Toby, Jaeger, and Ava - and a cat named Kitty. Graphic Designer. Yarn Addict. Proud Texan living in the Peach State. Lover of all things natural.
My journey with essential oils began about two years ago when one of my neighbors shared her passion for these little brown bottles with me and my husband. I’ll be honest - I was a little overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start.
She sent me home with a kit of 10 oils and, like any normal person totally excited about a new avenue of taking control of my health, I put them in my linen closet and went about my day (ok, more like months).
Oh, if I only knew then ..
Fast-forward about a year later. We were re-introduced to the oils by another neighbor and friend .. and that’s when it clicked.
We had specific health concerns that maybe .. just maybe .. these oils could help with.
My husband was suffering from severe back pain due to a car accident a couple years earlier.
He was having trouble sleeping at night without OTC medications.
He had acid issues with his stomach.
I had flare ups of anxious feelings.
My energy level was constantly running on empty.
We wanted to improve our mood, our overall wellbeing, our stress levels.
We recognized our NEED.
I began researching how to address this list of needs using the 10 oils we had.
And here were our results ..
Applying Deep Blue and Frankincense to my husband’s back tremendously reduced the pain he was experiencing on a daily basis. It even eliminated the numbness in his leg that was a subsequent result of the back injury. In addition to applying them directly to his back, he began soaking in baths of epsom salt and these oils regularly.
Diffusing Lavender at night gave him deep, restful sleep allowing him to completely ween off of those OTC meds packed full of chemicals and man-made ingredients .. and Lord knows what else.
Taking DigestZen internally in a pill capsule or rubbing it over his abdomen reduced his stomach issues.
Lavender, when applied over my heart and on the back of my neck and ears would knock out my feelings of anxiousness almost immediately. (Lavender was quickly becoming a fan favorite in our house.)
For my low energy, I began huffing Peppermint and Lemon. You read that right. Rather than reaching for a cup of coffee or chocolate in the afternoons, I’d pop open one (or both!) of these bottles and deeply inhale. I would instantly feel awake, alert, and ready to take on my next task. I might even put a drop or two in my water if I was feeling extra adventurous. ;)
We used the four others - Melaleuca, Oregano, OnGuard and Breathe - for daily immune support, skin improvements, congestion relief, allergies, cuts and scrapes. You name it.
If there was an issue, we had an oil for it.
The results spoke for themselves and I couldn’t believe how much our health was improving.
When you don’t feel well, that negative energy flows into and affects all other areas of your life. And it’s easy to fall into a rut. (Can you feel me raising my hand here??) We were in said rut.
But for the first time, we had hope that things could actually get better.
After introducing the oils, it’s like we hit the reset button on our lives. We started reevaluating our relationship with each other and with others, our eating habits, our finances, our life goals .. and the list goes on.
Our story is not unique.
I know so many people out there are experiencing situations similar to ours. And it is through this journey that I want to share the same hope that we have found in these oils.
Hope that “this is just what my life has become” is a lie. Hope that, no matter the situation, you have the ability to take control. Hope that empowers you to make those dreams of better health a reality.
It can improve.
It WILL improve.
