Foods For A Fit Heart:

1) Whole Grains------Oats and barley are rich in cholesterol lowering compound called beta glucan which is a soluble fiber that will help to reduce the risk of heart disease.

2) Fish------Recent studies have shown that the omega 3 fatty acids in oily fish (e.g salmon, mackerel and trout) will lower the "bad" cholesterol in blood. Aim for at least 2 servings per week says the American Heart Association.

3) Nuts-----They are full of fiber, antioxidants and heart friendly fats, all of which have been shown to reduce the amount of cholesterol in blood. Pair an apple with a small handful of almonds, pistachios or walnuts as healthy snack.

4) Garlic---Rich in nutrients, garlic has been linked to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and can promote healthy blood pressure.

5) Berries---they are loaded with fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants. Harvard researchers have found, berries may protect your heart from disease by decreasing inflammation in blood vessels.
