In honor of Volunteer Week, we’re proud to spotlight Dr. Ian Cole, a practicing emergency medicine physician at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

His passion for service has taken him beyond the ED to Kabala, Sierra Leone, where he volunteered in a resource-constrained environment and contributed to expanding access to care for patients in need. Working alongside local clinicians, he supported frontline care delivery, adapted to limited resources, and helped care for patients who might otherwise have gone without treatment. His story is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact clinicians can have when they choose to serve, both at home and around the world.
