Come shake some trees with us in a few weeks in Tiger, GA! We will be picking apples on Saturday September 6th followed by a picnic at the beautiful Bull Sluice on the Chattooga River. Every pound harvested goes to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia to meet the needs of our neighbors facing food insecurity. Hope to see you there!

From Kudzu Jungle to Community Hub
On the 16th of every month, we share a chapter from Concrete Jungle’s 16-year story.

This month: Doghead Farm 🥕🍅
Back in 2012, we leased a kudzu-covered plot in southwest Atlanta from a friend—just to see if we could turn it into a vegetable farm to add to our foraged fruit donations.

We could. And we did.

Now in its 14th growing season, Doghead has produced 30,000+ pounds of fresh veggies for families in need, and it’s become our Atlanta headquarters—a vibrant community space where volunteers gather, dig in, and grow together. 💚

It’s a Concrete Jungle campout! Join us on August 23rd to harvest muscadines and then picnic and camp at the legendary Koinonia Farm! We’ll pick for a few hours, have dinner, build a campfire, and then you’re welcome to spend the night if you’d like. Hope to see you there! Link in bio!

Muscadine season is HERE! It’s finally time to pick these sweet, flavor explosions! We’ll be harvesting muscadine at the legendary Koinonia Farm in Americus on August 23 and we need YOU! Our first Adventure Pick! In 2011, we got a call about a place called “”Apple Mountain Golf Course”” that sure enough was a mountain of apples. We’d never harvested produce outside of Atlanta, but we figured we’d give it a whirl. The thing we remember most about that day was feeling so surprised: by how many volunteers showed up, how many apples we were able to pick, and how folks wanted to stick around afterwards to eat watermelon and hike. Still today, we’re amazed by the bounty and community around us. 🍎🍎

Big news: PEEL in a Box is here!! 🚨🍎 We’re taking our Produce Enjoyment and Education Loop to the next level — now we’re giving our partners everything they need to run their own tastings and events on distribution days!

Shoutout to our friends at NETWorks for hosting the first volunteer/staff training and kicking things off! Stephanie at NETWorks told us: “It’s going to be awesome to share recipes and resources and reach many more people!”

Earlier this month, our berry sweet volunteers crushed it at Moon Farms and harvested 363 pounds of strawberries for our neighbors in Athens! 🍓
