Isn’t this the biggest irony of all?

I am very fortunate to be taking Childbirth Educator training with Whole Body Pregnancy. For our homework last week we watched "All My Babies: A Midwife's Own Story", a documentary about a Black midwife in Albany, GA made for training purposes. "Miss Mary', Mary Coley, helped set the standard of care for Midwives all over the south. This film once again reminds us of all that Black Women have done for America.

Last night was one I will never forget. This new baby birth worker got to attend my first birth (well in person) and it was pure magic.
I am so grateful to have been trusted and let into the sacred space that brought Julien earth side. This bad ass mama was beautiful and calm and kept reminding herself that she was an athlete running a marathon. She is an absolute goddess.
Having my first birth as a support person/doula be in a space that empowered the birthing person, listened to her and trusted her about her own body, that was comfortable and personal and loving, made me feel even more passionate about the work. It can be done people!
Thank you so much to the wonderful Midwife Maggie, for enabling such an empowering birth to take place.

Welcome to the world Julien! We are all so happy you are here.
