Trying something new ... diversity of plants in every bed with flowers. Big stuff in the center shorter root veggies, etc around the edges. Seem to grow better that way than monocropping. Bed 9a squash, collards, arugula, beets, zinnias all mixed together to create a canopy.

So stinking cute :-) Teaching kids to grow and eat veggies ...

Fall is almost here, so it's time for a refresh of our Montclair Elementary School pocket garden! This collaboration between our Community Development Program and Picked at Perfection Urban Farm helps teach kids about gardening and responsibility - all while encouraging healthy habits. The kids will water, harvest, and cook up these carrots, beets, kale, radishes, and flowers. The kiddos went crazy for the zucchini and cucumbers last spring and parents called and asked how the school got the kids to eat them! Here's to a plentiful harvest this fall!
