Religious & Spiritual Cognitive Biases (Including Zodiac Bias)

These biases influence how we filter meaning, assign value, and interpret events. They often We**am us to evade critical thinking in the place of divine justification or cosmic patterning.

Powerful, yes — but can also be dangerous when misused. Here are some examples:

⚔️ Religious Cognitive Biases That Block Accountability For Success of a Lack Thereof

1. Spiritual Bypassing
“If it’s meant to be, it will be.”

Avoiding responsibility or necessary action under the guise of faith or surrender.

2. Martyr Complex Bias
“Suffering brings me closer to God.”

- Glorifying hardship and refusing abundance or help because struggle feels sacred.

3. Prosperity Gospel Bias
“If I’m blessed, I’ll be rich. If I’m not rich, I must be cursed.”

- Can cause deep shame or performative spirituality. Or the opposite — spiritual arrogance.

4. End Times Bias
“The world is ending soon, so why plan long-term?”

- Destroys vision-building, legacy thinking, and wealth strategies.

5. Us vs. Them Bias
“Our faith is right, others are lost.”

- Prevents collaboration, openness, or evolution, and can create inner guilt if you expand your beliefs.

6. Purity or Perfection Bias
“I have to be sinless or fully healed before I lead or succeed.”

- Perfectionism disguised as holiness. Keeps you stuck in the healing loop.

7. Religious Authority Bias
“The pastor/priest/guru said it, so it must be true.”

- Discourages critical thinking, inner discernment, and direct spiritual connection.

🌌 Spiritual & New Age Biases That Block Expansion

8. Law of Attraction Literalism
“I had a negative thought, so I ruined my manifestation.”

- Creates hypervigilance and shame rather than magnetic flow.

9. Karma Misinterpretation
“Bad things are happening because I deserve it.”

- Leads to quiet suffering and lack of action to improve circumstances.

10. Past Life Projection Bias
“I was a slave/priestess/king in a past life that’s why I act this way.”

- May excuse bad behavior or limit growth under the weight of spiritual identity.

11. Crystal/Frequency Overdependence
“I need to clear my energy again before launching.”

- Avoiding real action while hiding behind spiritual rituals.

12. Ascension Escapism
“Earth is too dense, I don’t belong here.”

- Can lead to poverty, isolation, and refusal to engage the material plane.

♏ Zodiac & Astrology Cognitive Biases

13. Sign Stereotyping Bias
“I’m a Scorpio, so I’m always intense/dark/possessive.”

- Trapping yourself in an archetype instead of using it as a launchpad.

14. Blame-the-Stars Bias
“Mercury retrograde ruined my deal.”

- Over-assigning failure or chaos to cosmic forces instead of facing what's fixable.

15. Zodiac Compatibility Fatalism
“We’re not compatible — they’re a Leo.”

- Ignoring depth, nuance, and actual emotional intelligence.

16. Astrological Gatekeeping
“You’re not initiated enough to understand this energy.”

- Spiritual elitism in astrology that blocks learning, mentorship, or community.

17. Transit Paralysis Bias
“Saturn is in my 8th house — I can’t do anything right now.”

- Delaying decisions or hiding behind planetary timing forever.

These are a few. What else comes to mind for you?

Life is as difficult as you make it but we must endure difficult times regardless. Why not find meaningful ways to lean in and understand the purpose in the grand scheme of things?

Healing is about love. Connecting and reconnecting parts of our humanity in a way that's intentional. Let love live through you... labor through you...... flow through you, as you unveil your path through this plane, connecting and sharing that experience with others. Learn to exercise compassion for yourself and others by way of really seeing them for who they are beyond the chaos and facades.... listen with your hearts and let you mind be free of criticism. Own the moment we were given today and exercise gratitude. 💪 We are only as strong as our weakest link in humanity. Who are you underneath it all? Who are you connected to? Allow yourself to explore your truth and walk in your purpose more intentionally today.

Some say we are in a time where women are simply dedicated to living freely and giving way to the interpretation that their bodies are there own to do with as they please... The indication is that their bodies are as they would like for them to be and there is nothing "wrong" with them if they get work done. What are your thoughts and what are the potential ripple effects of this?

My Life Journey

Compassionate Humanistic Psychotherapist in the Atlanta area. La'Quanda is an accomplished business owner and former Medical Doctor for the Armed Forces. She is committed to providing quality emotional, mental, behavioral, and holistic healing options to the under-served populations of Atlanta and surrounding counties. She delivers a powerful message each time she opens the world to her essence in public speeches. Her practice is located in Lithia Springs, Ga and she only accepts therapists, life coaches, and behavioral health providers who are as passionate about their work as she is. This is rare but possible so that she continue to build and aid in the personal and professional development of all those who are a part of her network.

Having seen and overcome lots of adversity in her personal and professional life, she takes a very curious and insightful approach in the same space for all of those clients she serves in all capacities. Taking the traditional one size fit all approach has never been something she has believed in doing and for this reason, she mastered all of systems theory in her graduate program. She feels that although empirical, or evidence based practices and and can be helpful for most, it doesn’t mean some people will not benefit from those same modalities and still benefit from therapy in non traditional ways. Essentially, therapy outcomes is an area she is committed to continuing to measure as a scientist practitioner. She challenges all therapist and mental health practitioners to think outside of the box, trust your gut, and allow the clients to guide the practitioner into their life experiences for the most comprehensive treatment. Assumptions are what kills true efficacy. One is never to assume anything and to always remain curious. This is what has led to her great success as a practitioner.

“We are all human and on this continuum of evolution for personal and spiritual growth, and maturation, one can never cease to learn more about self or the world we are a part of.”
