Refresher date is now set and other items of interest
Message from Lost Valley Patrol Co-Director John Chasse:
Hello All Patrollers,
I hope you are all having a great summer. IT is that time of the year when we need to start planning our refresher for this year. The online portion is already out on the NSP website. I encourage you to get it done early. Especially since Lost Valley is having the skills portion of the refresher earlier this year.
We have set the date for Sunday, Sept. 28 At LOST VALLEY plan to arrive for sign-in for 8 a.m. and first rotation starting by 9 a.m. Black Mountain of Maine is joining us this year and we are awaiting word on whether we will have other patrols join in as well.
That's right, it is earlier than usual as we have heard from many that they wish to get it done before the hunting seasons. Jamie Juntura will be the Instructor of Record (IOR) for this course. It will be registered online for sign up in about a week.
Please stay tuned for more details, we will provide updates. Any of you, who are instructors or who are thinking about becoming one, should reach out to Jamie, Scott Thistle or I about helping out with this cycle. The more the merrier!
The non-OEC portions of our annual refresher training including lift-evac and mountain operations as well as our human resources review will be announced later in the fall.
On another note, we have a lot more patrollers this year due to last year's OEC courses.
We expect to have as many as 70 or 80 patrollers at our refresher this year and if any additional patrols join it will be even more than that - so it is important to get your online work done sooner rather than later to come prepared.
This season Lost Valley Patrol Co-Director Scott Thistle, P-7, will be responsible for managing our schedule and roster. He will be the go-to person for questions about shifts, shift changes, swaps and coverage. Please help Scott in this new role by communicating frequently and clearly.
If you have any questions about these changes please speak with Scott or me when you have a chance.
We appreciate all your service and many hours of dedication to our patrol team and we look forward to another fun and exciting ski season.
See you all soon.
Respectfully,
John Chasse
Lost Valley Patrol Co-Director
