We completed our week in Romania working with Asociația Sprijin Fară Frontiere to provide medical, social, and food support to small villages in Tulcea judete. This years group was small, Dr Mike, Dr Farida, Nurse Sam for Unimedlink and 3 student interpreters, Gabriel,Romeo, Phillip and of course Magda and Mihai of Sprinjin Frontiere.
Turnout at the villages was lower than other years likely due to week of Easter which also affected our MD/RN recruiting efforts in the US.
Now in our 5th year for Romania we have established some continuity with some of the villagers regarding control of hypertension and diabetes as well as follow up on our recommendations to seek, consultation, imaging, labs in certain circumstances.
This year in Letea, which we travel to by boat, we split into two teams and did all home visits. We were assisted by Valentino"the professor" a local school teacher who kindly offered transportation of elderly whom we deemed really should be seen in Tulcea city. Valentinos family also provided us with a lovely post workday meal and housed our student interpreters overnight before our early AM departure on the Danube to Sulina and Chilia Veche.
In the villages Sinoe and Nicolae Balcescu we decided to leave glucometers and blood pressure machines at the chapels with instructions to the caregivers to get readings every few weeks on the suboptimally controlled patients so we can better advise them on our return next year if they have not been able to see a local medical provider in the interim.
Donations are always appreciated. We accept Paypal, Venmo, checks, workplace donations etc. Any questions contact us via FB messenger, email unimedlink@gmail.com and ck out our website https://unimedlink.com/

September 19 though 21 we had medical camp at ACK St Andrews church in Kangoya.
Local volunteers really stepped up to the plate for patient registration, screening tests, counseling, health and wellness education. Eye and dental services were again provided and a county mobile clinic van performed cervical cancer and HPV screening, breast exams and women’s health consultations.
On our second day we were notified the nearby Kiambu level 5 hospital nurses were on strike( due to no pay from the government for three months) and we saw an influx of patients. Happily we were assisted all three days by physicians, clinical officers and nurses otherwise we would not have been able to accommodate all of the patients( @ 1000 over the three days). Kangoya is looking forward to an ongoing cooperative association with Unimedlink.
At the end of the last day we had a closing ceremony where each of the many volunteers were presented with a certificate of appreciation.

KENYA
We held two medical camps at two locations for a total of five busy days. Our first camp was at Giathieko, where we utilized the Holy Family Catholic Church grounds after a sudden countywide decree prevented us from using the primary school grounds as planned. Our gracious hosts provided us with a building and set up chairs and tents. We were entertained by school children singing health-themed songs. Local officials from the Department of Health, the pastor, and the mayor participated in the opening ceremonies ¹.
Over two days, we accommodated approximately 830 patients, providing screenings for hypertension, diabetes, and general medical consultations. A dentist and ophthalmologist attended to other patients, while ancillary staff provided vaccinations, deworming, testing, and counseling for HIV and TB, as well as medication distribution.
A planned third day at Githiga market was canceled by the Githiga planning committee due to a conflict in scheduling.
