Six months into 2020 just sounds so so weird but ultimately my goal for the rest of the year is to continually work towards happiness, growth and wisdom. What does your vision for the second half of 2020 look like?✨ #2020

All this time at home has given me more time to plan out well-balanced meals. During the school year, I really struggle with this, because I sacrifice healthy eating for more studying. However, I’ve learned that eating healthy is more simple than we make it out to be. You can still eat your favorite foods; it’s just about moderation and balance. And with some planning before hand, I definitely save myself a lot of time. I’m super excited to take what I’ve learned during this time into my second year of medical school! Being super busy doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your health. It’s simply not worth it in the long run. Always remember, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” — Jim Rohn

Don’t let the lack of gym access keep you from working out! During this time, yoga has been a great way for me to take a break from all the studying and recenter. ✨

One of my many quarantine meals: pepper jack turkey burgers! I use turkey meat to avoid red meat but still get to enjoy a nice burger. What are y’all cooking during this time of social distancing?

I haven’t posted a meal in awhile so here’s my post workout dinner! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During our Gastrointestinal and Nutrition Module we had to track our diet for a view days with this really cool app called Cronometer that basically gave you the breakdown of carbs, fat, protein, vitamins and minerals that you had consumed. From the breakdown in this meal you can see that it was super low in fats and the fats that it did contain were healthy fats! (Omega 3 and Omega 6) Also, the high protein content was perfect for post workout recovery and I consumed a decent amount of vitamins and minerals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s always cool to actually know what you’re putting into your body and the overall health benefits so today I challenge you to choose to eat healthy.

Recently, I’ve really liked super quick explosive workouts so I can get in and out of the gym and back to studying ASAP. Here is a glimpse from my leg buster workout this week!!
🔹 4x6 Deadlifts
🔹 4x15 SL Leg Press

Perfecting my squats before spring break hits if you know what I mean 😂
- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5 sets of 5 squats starting at a warmup weight and moving up in weight each set. I started with 135 and ended at 185. Starting with a lower weight and moving up in weight each set as well as each week you hit the squat bar is key to gaining strength over time.
- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With squats, always try to maintain and upright posture. Heavy weight makes your body want to lean over, but this is easily corrected by keeping your core tight. Also, always remember to push mainly from your heels for maximum power.

Aerial yoga was definitely one of the coolest things I’ve tried! It honestly wasn’t scary at all and actually gave me a pretty great core and arm workout. Shoutout to my friend Jill for being my only friend at school who will do things like this with me 💖 @ Space Yoga Studio: Yoga By Donation
