🌟 Support Our Heroes This Winter! ❄️🇺🇸

The colder weather is here and many of our veterans are in need of warmth and assistance.

The Augusta Elks Lodge #964 and Fieldings Fielding’s Oil & Propane Co.partnered up in 2024 to help address some of the heating needs of our veterans. In our first year, we were able to assist 40 Maine veterans receive 100 or more gallons of oil — and we couldn't have done it without the generosity of local businesses and individuals. The Veteran Heating Assistance Fund is here to support those who have served our country, but we can’t do it alone!

Once again, we are reaching out to our amazing community to help us raise funds for veterans struggling to keep their homes warm this winter. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a huge difference in their lives.

Let’s come together to honor and support those who have sacrificed so much for us. 🕊️💙 Thank you for your generosity and for standing by our veterans!

The Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services (MBVS) is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2025 Homeless Veterans Mobile Stand Downs—an initiative that brought vital resources and services directly to veterans and their families across Maine.

This year, MBVS and its partners reached and assisted 82 homeless veterans through events held in Bangor, Lewiston, Portland, and Augusta. Veterans received access to housing and employment resources, financial assistance, health screenings, counseling, and benefits navigation. Each Stand Down also offered a free lunch, haircut, winter clothing, and other essential items.

“These Stand Downs are a testament to what we can achieve when local, state, and federal partners come together for a common cause—ensuring that every veteran in Maine has access to the care and support they’ve earned,” said David Richmond, Director of the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services.

While this year’s Stand Downs have concluded, our mission continues year-round. MBVS’s Homeless Veterans Coordination Team remains committed to assisting Maine veterans and their families, particularly those facing housing insecurity, by providing ongoing outreach and connection to essential resources.

If you know a veteran experiencing or at risk of homelessness, please contact our team at: 207-287-7019 or HVC.MaineBVS@maine.gov
