The main finding of recent research from JAMA is extremely promising for early intervention OT professionals.

⭐️ In the study, greater intensity of early intervention service was associated with better functional gains. ⭐️

But, there’s a problem.

Federal spending per child on early intervention services has declined over the past decade. And, in this climate of tightening budgets, most children in the study had:

❌Delayed care, and
❌Low service intensity.

People need to Google “OT near me” and see your face.

📍 Your clients need to be able to find you.
💪 Your community needs to see the work you are doing.
✅ Our legislators and policymakers need to see the faces of our profession.

I truly believe that people don’t know what OT is, because we have made OT hard to find.

Today, that can change.

We begin by reviewing an article on racism and occupation.

Then, I am honored that the hosts of one of my favorite podcasts (The Dr. thOTs Podcast) agreed to takeover the discussion portion. The Dr. thOTs hosts, Khalilah R. Johnson, PhD, MS, OTR/L and Ryan Lavalley are also the authors of the article we review.

The downside is it can be overwhelming to keep up.
