Track and Field has been a big part of my life since I was a freshman in high school. Although, I thought I was late to the sport, I learned and caught on quickly. From making varsity my first year running, to getting recruited by many colleges and getting the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level it was such a blessing. I put so much blood, sweat, and tears in this sport…literally, but I grew so much love and passion for it. Unfortunately I suffered a ruptured achilles last month and I have a long road of recovery. In just a month, I learned how not only physically challenging this injury is, but also mentally. With that being said, I have decided to end my track career overall and focus on academics over the next couple of years. I do plan to transfer so I want to thank Northwestern Oklahoma State for giving me the opportunity to continue my athletic and academic journey past high school. I want to thank Coach T for recruiting me and leading me to everything I have achieved at this level. I want to thank Coach Lancaster for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to compete on a team that you have led for years. I want to thank all my high school coaches, Coach Jones, Coach Marshall, and Coach Moore for teaching me everything I know about Track and paving the way to get me this far. I want to thank everyone that helped me outside my regular team settings like my summer track coaches, Mr. Altare, and Coach Royce. I want to thank all of my family and friends who have supported me through everything, even up to this point. I want to thank my parents for being my biggest support system. All the meets you showed up to, the 6am practices you took me to, and even traveling to make it to college meets doesn’t go unappreciated. Lastly, I want to thank God for even giving me the ability to not only participate in this sport, but make so many achievements at every level.
